| ATIP: 97m 27s 55f Disc Manufacturer: Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals, Inc. Assumed Dye type: Phthalocyanine (Type 5) Media type: CD-Recordable Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown nominal Capacity: 650.85MB (74m 05s 10f / LBA: 333235) Mitsui-8x-74min: I am providing these results from CDRs burned AT LEAST 2 years or so ago. They have been kept in CD Cases or CD Wallets for the duration, and NO physical damage is on them. All CDs were burned with either a Ricoh 6200A (latest firmware), Ricoh 7040A (latest firmware), or Ricoh 7200A (latest firmware). Some tests are not quite the full capacity (74 or 80 min), but are relatively close. These results may be helpful to those who have stored media on these specific mediums and are woried about the CDRs data corruption. Sorry I know not much information recorded, but only Mistui CDR I have. SuperG Last edited by rdgrimes; 17-09-2003 at 05:55. |

| Plextor CD-R Premium f/w 1.05 audio 73:03 (642 MB) Manufacturer : Mitsui Code : 97m27s55f Disc Type : CD-R Usage : Audio Recording Layer : Dye Type 5: Short Strategy (Phthalocyanine) Recording Speed : n/a Capacity : 74:05.10 651 MB MFSL 24kt Gold Ultradisc CD-R. Available directly from Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's site. C1 avg............0.7 C1 max..........20.0 C1 total......3087.0 Recorded with PlexTools Pro v2.12 (CD/DVD Copy - Image). Scanned at 8x CLV, as there are a lot of C2/CU errors reported at the very end of the CD when scanned at max speed (10-24x CAV), though upon loading the tray, the Premium limits the max reading speed to 10-24x (the PX-712A's limit is the probably more realistic 8x CLV). Zero overburning capability - burning a 74:15 image resulted in C2 count in hundreds at the end of the CD. Last edited by Never_Again; 23-08-2004 at 19:38. Reason: added the missing .png |

Available directly from Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's site. C1 avg............0.9 C1 max..........26.0 C1 total......4155.0 Recorded with PlexTools Pro v2.12 (CD/DVD Copy - Image). Scanned at 8x CLV, as there are a lot of C2/CU errors reported at the very end of the CD when scanned at max speed (10-24x CAV). I could not test MFSL's max recommended 12x - neither of my burners supports it, so I tried 16x. Got a write function error 052C00 - ILLEGAL REQUEST: COMMAND SEQUENCE ERROR from PlexTools Pro at the end of the burn. Conclusion: while C1 levels look excellent, I can hardly recommend this media: -low recording speed limit -cannot be overburned even slightly -exorbitant price -C1 counts still about three times higher than TY |

| LITE-ON LTR-24102B (fw?), 457 MB burned to disc ATIP: 97m27s56f here is a scan of a MITSUI CD-R i just did recently... the disk itself was burned on Febuary 28th 2002 ... it's a audio cd... as you can see these disks are obviously good quality especially when u factor in the disk was burned about 4 years and 4 months ago. the drive it was burned in was a LITE-ON LTR-24102B drive (with im sure the newest firmware at that time) here is a picture... i bought these MITSUI disks off ebay for 50 dollars for 100disks. ok here is some more info about the disk as the admin asked for in a PM to me.. the disk above was burned @ 24x ... as for the rated speed of the disks i aint tottally sure, but i "think" there rated @ 16x. [Moderator's comment by DrageMester] The disk is most probably 24x rated the disks are 700MB disks. p.s. to bad my damn lite-on dvd burner wont show ATIP info... i gotta fire up the old pc with the drive that i burned the disk with to get the info which is the LITE-ON 24102B drive. according to the Kprobe program here is what i got... (info i got from the Lite-On 24102B cd-rw drive) Manufacturer = Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. Media ID = 97:27:56 Capacity = 702.80MB Maximum Write Speed = 23x ( is this official burn speed of the media? ) Material = Phthalocyanine Last edited by DrageMester; 04-07-2006 at 17:14. | Never_Again posted: "Conclusion: while C1 levels look excellent, I can hardly recommend this media: -low recording speed limit -cannot be overburned even slightly -exorbitant price -C1 counts still about three times higher than TY" I have had good (but not exceptional) results from Mitsui CD-R, but one thing I've noticed is that many Plextors seem to absolutely loathe a lot of phthalocyanine media. Here's two scores for the same disks, one using a Sony-branded Liteon and CD-DVDSpeed, and the other using a Plextor Premium and PlexTools: ...........................................Sony/Liteon....................Plextor TY: Max C1....................................15.................................18 avg C1....................................0.18..............................0.4 Obviously the Plextor is about twice as picky with Super Cyanine. But with phthalocyanine, sheesh! More like 30 times the error rate. Mitsui: Max C1...................................18.................................30 avg C1...................................0.15..............................4.3 Prodisc: Max C1...................................15................................34 avg C1..................................0.05...............................1.8 And this, from my experience, is normal. I've never had my Plextor report anything less than 5 times the errors on a phthalocyanine disk as reported by any other drive/software combination. I really like TY media, but when it comes to Plextor, I absolutely CAN understand why they recommend it. It is not just top-notch, it is the only reputable brand that a lot of their drives don't hate. |
