As you can see the Manufacturer Rated Speed is 8.0x 11080KBps but i only have Available Write Descriptor, CLV 4.0x 5540KBps. Is there anyway of fix this or do i have to wait for Lite-On to relese a new firmware?

btw anyone know why my disc labels don't show up properly in CD Speed? i'm using the current version, 3.80.
eg. in the above scan, instead of "TF" the label is actually ATHF, and in my 3 scans further up the correct labels are "MP3_34" etc but as you can see they don't show correctly.
not really a problem, just curious. the discs were burnt as ISO. i know when you burn as UDF the label shows as "n/a".

    TDK DVD-R 8x, Written & Scanned at 8x. NEC 3520a 3.04
The PIF's seems to be within range of a good scan but i'm not sure with PIE's.
Can someone interpret this please. thanks

@hiwass. Looks like a good burn for stock FW. If your not worried about warranty, Dee 27 has done some modding to the 1.UF fw that you could give a try. Pie are a liitle high but well below the guideline of 280 PIE max. HTH.

But I thought I read the thread where Dee indicated stock FW gives a better quality score while the modded firmware gives faster writing speed. Maybe I misunderstood, I'll check out 1.UF and see if I could get the PIE's down a bit. Thanks

Not sure what media Dee 27 has modded in 1.UF.
Here is a 12x burn of TYG02 with 1.UF FW. Keep in mind my TYG02 is Oem and not TDK. http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=1186

I am using a NEC 3520 1UF with TYG-03 and after closing out all running apps. I get great burns at 16x. 10xavg with times in the 5min range. I do not have programs to scan for errors but all the backup play great in all 5 of my DVD standalones.

I have similar scans @8 PIF wise - I don't have as high PIE though. Somedays it's my 3500 and somedays the 3250 - usually it's more like below or better. Not sure if the drives have bad & good days but i think it's the discs that vary a bit. I have very good scans with "full disc" burns but sometimes they look like yours (more often than i'd like it seems there's a slight problem @ the end of the disc )
