NEC ND-4551A 1-Z2 burned at 16x; 4308 MB burned to disc
Plextor DVD+R 16x (YUDEN000 T03 00) TH001330; Made in Japan

IMHO this is one of the best burns I have had so far with this media.
  1. Disc Quality at 8x in LiteOn SHW-1635S drive
  2. PxScan at 2x in Plextor PX-712 drive
  3. PxScan at 12x in Plextor PX-712 drive
  4. Burst test at 2x in Plextor PX-712 drive
  5. Read Transfer benchmark in NEC ND-4551A drive
Note that Read Transfer benchmarks in other drives are flawless.

NEC ND-4551A 1-Z2 burned at 12x; 4161 MB burned to disc
Plextor DVD+R 16x (YUDEN000 T03 00) TH001330; Made in Japan

This burn is not nearly as good as the 16x burn above: There are some big jumps in beta value, and resulting slowdowns in the NEC 4551 and LiteOn 1635S drives (at different locations on the disc) - these slowdowns are repeatable.
  1. Disc Quality at 8x in LiteOn SHW-1635S drive
  2. PxScan at 2x in Plextor PX-712 drive
  3. PxScan at 12x in Plextor PX-712 drive
  4. Read Transfer benchmark in NEC ND-4551A drive
  5. Read Transfer benchmark in LiteOn SHW-1635S drive
Note that Read Transfer benchmarks in other drives are flawless.
A Burst scan can be found in the next post.

  3. PxScan at 12x in Plextor PX-712 drive

LiteOn SHW-1635S YS0W burned at 16x; 4338 MB burned to disc
Plextor DVD+R 16x (YUDEN000 T03 00) TH001330; Made in Japan

Drive is in an external enclosure with a Prolific PL-3507 chipset connected by USB 2.0 Hi-Speed.

This is the first burn with this media after upgrading firmware from YS0V, but I burned four of these discs using YS0V so I'm not entirely sure of the Media Learning status of the drive for this media.
  1. Disc Quality at 8x in LiteOn SHW-1635S drive
  2. PxScan at 2x in Plextor PX-712 drive
  3. PxScan at 12x in Plextor PX-712 drive
  4. Burst scan at 2x in the Plextor PX-712 drive
  5. Read Transfer benchmark in LiteOn SHW-1635S drive
Note that Read Transfer benchmarks in other drives are flawless.

LiteOn SHW-1635S YS0W burned at 12x; 3652 MB burned to disc
Plextor DVD+R 16x (YUDEN000 T03 00) TH001330; Made in Japan

The drive is in an external enclosure with a Prolific PL-3507 chipset connected by USB 2.0 Hi-Speed.

This is the third burn with this media after upgrading firmware from YS0V.

The scans suggest that there might be a media or surface flaw at approx. 1.6 GB, but if there is such a flaw it is not visible to the naked eye.

The burn quality is not as good as with 16x burning speed above.
  1. Disc Quality at 8x in LiteOn SHW-1635S drive
  2. PxScan at 2x in Plextor PX-712 drive
  3. PxScan at 12x in Plextor PX-712 drive
  4. Burst scan at 2x in the Plextor PX-712 drive
  5. Read Transfer benchmark in LiteOn SHW-1635S drive
Note that Read Transfer benchmarks in other drives are flawless.

LiteOn SHW-1635S YS0W burned at 8x; 3432 MB burned to disc
Plextor DVD+R 16x (YUDEN000 T03 00) TH001330; Made in Japan

The drive is in an enclosure with a Prolific PL-3507 chipset and connected by USB 2.0 Hi-Speed.

This is the second burn with this media after upgrading firmware from YS0V.

The Read Transfer benchmark in the NEC 4551 drive suggests that the burn is not as good as the 16x or 12x burns above, but the problem cannot be seen in the PIE or PIF values; the beta value is getting near -5% at the end of the disc so that might explan it.

Unfortunately I don't have a PlexTools Burst scan of this disc.
  1. Disc Quality at 8x in LiteOn SHW-1635S drive
  2. PxScan at 2x in Plextor PX-712 drive
  3. PxScan at 12x in Plextor PX-712 drive
  4. Read Transfer benchmark in NEC ND-4551A drive
  5. Read Transfer benchmark in LiteOn SHW-1635S drive
Note that Read Transfer benchmarks in other drives are flawless.
