Sold as PLATINUM disc, 4x DVD+R Source was south park the movie, copied on the fly, with anydvd decrypting it, I dont care about the errors, it plays fine, and the source was scratched up pretty badly.

Tested wit JLMS 165H @ 8x max and 8 blocks ECC

Overall nice media, I can get them pretty cheap (1.59 euro per disc) Good scratch resistance, which is important to me, as my family always scratches all my discs up

Sold as RITEK 2.4x. Just saw some notes about hacking burn speeds, so thought I'd have a go. You can see the spike when it switches to 8x burning.

Scan carried out on the same LDW-811S w/HS0P that it was burnt on @ 4x, 8ECC - I don't have any other LiteOn drives to try it on. However it plays OK on my Panasonic LV-75 and reads OK on my Ricoh MP5125A.

Interested in anyone else's experience with burning this media at 8x.

Comments: First, this is probably not the best disc to overspeed with. I accidentally dropped the disc prior to burning, and that drop plus my subsequent attempt to wipe off the dust created a few scratches. Nor was I ever able to get all of the dust off (after a certain point, each wipe adds as much dust as it removes). Reads fine in my burner (verifies okay), but somehow, my 48161 doesn't recognize the disc. So right now, it looks as if overspeeding the RITEKR01 to 8x is a bad idea (it IS a 2.4x-rated disc...); it doesn't seem to work nearly as well as the RICOHJPNR00. Will retest later with a better (undropped) disc, and will also run some tests at 4x and 6x. Finally, it seems as if there may be some dye unevenness on the disc. There is an area of the disc (in the shape of a ring) that seems a wee bit darker than the rest, both burned and unburned. Oh, and the dye color is much darker than the Ricoh light purple (it's more along the lines of the G04's dark purple). So it may be the same manufacturer, but it's not the same dye.

Edit: recognizes & reads just fine in my laptop's 24082K slim combo. Why my 48161H doesn't like it is beyond me.
