Mobile speed and discount code

I'm having problems playing some DVD's on MythTV (using mplayer without menu support) so though of transcoding them to DivX or something.

Last time I tried converting DVD to AVI or similar, it took like 10 hours or something (think that was NeroDigital) I assume mencoder/ clonedvd mobile has cut that down to under an hour or so these days, what would be the typical speed?

I assume you can just make regular XviD, DivX, MPEG2, MPEG4's for computers, not just iPoo's etc?

Can you select the audio stream to play as well, as my main problem is with French DVD's. getting them to play the English soundtrack.

I guess I should go download the demo and convert a DVD, but I don't have access to a Windows machine at the moment.
