It's a lifetime upgrade for AnyDVD. I think it's only a year for CloneDVD2 just as a warning.

True, but I believe CloneDVD was first released in 2002, so this is now the third year of the one year free update period.

What do you mean by I believe CloneDVD was first released in 2002? You of all people should really know the exact date of release.
