Hi. I have an LG 2166d external dvd-rw

I recently bought a psp and because there were problems with my pc recognising it, i was instructed to remove all the usb hardware and let the computer re-install it.

It worked for my psp but now the drive (whilst still working) is not being recognised as a dvd-rw as such.

DVD burning now takes about 15/20 minutes at the fastest speed, and generally its not working the same, open burning software, you have to browse for its yourself etc

I have looked for a driver but thats not helped

I have unistalled the driver/device and acted as though it came out the box, it installs it, but not as before...

PLEASE HELP ME OUT HERE....

so grateful for some help.... PLEASE

Thanks to anyone who can help

EDIT:

The used read buffer used t0 stay at 98/100% but it now goes slowly down to 0, then back up again. speeds are fluctuating a lot

I wonder how it acts if you try unplugging the PSP? Sounds like something is hogging the bandwidth, although I could be mistaken.

After all, that's the only thing that's changed.

Hi, yeah I tried that but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

The remaining time says 6 minutes (and thats how long it took before) but it gets to 0 at around 20% and then a few minutes are added...

The burn process takes about 5x longer and before I burn I get a message about multisession?????????? i never had that before

I think what is going on is that windows xp is running the drive, rather than the drive running windows. If you catch my drift! Xp seems to be getting its own info, rather than the drive providing it. Much like on previous windows where a driver could not be found but you compromised on something that WOULD work but not as well.

So seriously any help would be appreciated. I would do a system restore, but I have done a lot to the computer since the drive started to go dodgy

cheers people

BIG EDIT:

The actual burning of the disk seems to be around the same as before (this time with nothing else running, or connected)

BUT its the disk verification that is taking the time. I remember before this would take a couple of minutes max. but now taking around 15
