Upgrade to hdmi dvd player with crt projection?

General Hardware Forum Discuss, Upgrade to hdmi dvd player with crt projection? at Computer Hardware forum; I have a toshiba 65H84 crt projection tv with hdmi input. Am considering a sony dvp-ns75h upconverting dvd player. Will upgrading to hdmi on my tv with the sony player show any improvement over my 480p progressive scan player(samsung dvd-s221)? I've searched and found conflicting info. Thanks

I have a Mitsubishi WD-73727 with the OPPO OPDV971H up-conversion DVD player and have noticed a marked improvement in a direct comparison between DVI/HDMI and progressive scan...
I'm not sure why, but the picture does look cleaner...

Maybe because of the CRT monitor?

Plus I would think there wouldn't be much of a difference due to the 480p, from what I understand that's a standard t.v. isn't it?

Standard TV is 525I and the 480P is not interlaced...
