LOL!!! not really any reason I guess except I just kind of hate to give Vista up for good
heck I'm still booting up XP PRO on an eSATA external enclosure every once in a while
when I'm feeling a little bit nostalgic.

I guess when the time comes to go with a SSD I will just go with Windows 7 only
so I will have TRIM support and all.

Yes! Our teams could use a jolt of new power! As Jwill said, there are some really powerful machines here, but anyone computer will do! It's what we do together, as a whole, that makes a difference.

Both Folding@home and the World Community Grid are get projects and a superb use of spare CPU power.

Check out the links in Jwill and my sigs, PM me if you have any questions or problems installing the software.

Thanks in advance!

All that awsome power, and you *just* can't harness it, because of the mechanical HDD's feeding the whole machine slowing it down

Well, just because SSDs are here in the market that doesn't mean all of a sudden HDDs shouldn't be quickly labeled as 'Mechanical' or kinda obsolete

To keep the project cost in control, SSD advantages weren't deliberately considered in the *scope* of the P55 builds back in 2010 but P67 builds have SSDs plus SATA3/SATA2 HDDs. Unfortunately, I couldn't test any of them because all the P67 MOBOs are lying idle and awaiting for the new MOBOs. I just can't build and only to be dismantled in a short time. Anyway, thanks to Intel, that bug wasted my Money, Time and Energy

BTW, forgot to mention a few more components in that P55 build:

1) Corsair PSU - 650HX
2) MS Desktop 5000 Wireless Keyboard combo
3) Netgear 802.11b/g/n Wireless Router - WNR 1000
4) Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000
5) Xbox 360 Wireless Controller
6) Logitech G27 Racing Wheel (not so much used other than iracing etc. Maybe not a good investment but the product is rock solid!)
EDIT: Corsair 4x2GB DDR3 1600, 8-8-8-24

With a budget of roughly $50K (including Software), total P55 builds are 23 with a variety of configs matching with my requirements.

Nice Alan. I like these better than the SB's. No glitches and they just run and feel smoother all the way.

Old Faithful...yeah it's outdated but it is still a stellar 'bang for the buck' build.
Once Sandy Bridge cpus and their mobo prices settle and they've had time for at least 1 revision/fw update, I'll be upgrading to yet another best bang-for-the-buck i5 2500K based build.

Intel E8400 C2D 6MB/L2 3GHz @ 4GHz 24/7 - 4.3GHz Max on air
Asus P5K-E WiFi - Modded 1305 Bios w/ Intel 8.5 Raid ROM - ICH9R - JM Raid 0/1
Asus HD5830 DirectCu Graphics Card - 1GB DDR5 - 256 Bit Bus
Arctic Cooling Twin Turbo Pro VGA HSF w/ 2x92mm PWM Fans
OCZ Reaper 2x2GB + 2x1GB - DDR2-1066 - 5-5-5-15 Memory
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610W PSU - 50 Amp single rail
Boot Array: 3 x OCZ Vertex 2 50GB 34nm - RAID0 w/~15GB extra OP
Work/Scratch Drive: OCZ Apex 60GB 50nm - My first SSD still going strong
Storage: 2x500GB Seagate .12s Raid0 - Fast storage array
Backup: 2x500GB Seagate .12s Ext. eSata Raid1 - Redundant External Backup w/ fan cooling
ViewSonic VX922 2ms black-to-black monitor
Logitech Z-2300 2.1 THX Certified Speakers - Factory 8" Subwoofer replaced with a Rockford Fosgate car audio sub - 250W RMS (Continuous) with external fan cooling
APC RS1500 - 1500VA - 800 Watt Uninterpretable Backup Power Supply (UPS)

When I upgrade, all I'll need is a new CPU, Mobo and DDR3 Memory...and prolly a new Vertex 3 boot array . Already bought a CoolerMaster Storm Sniper Case with huge fan capacity.

*Is there anyway to get rid of the double spacing in my sig? Really don't want it taking up so much space.

jamescooley1, remember the Z68 chipset is coming out right now. So just a heads up. I believe the ASRock Z68 Extreme4 has display port, most don't, and that allows high resolution output from the on-die gpu.

Thanks eric, I already had the GPU's before I started the Sandy Bridge. Just thought they might perform better in this system.

You'll love that build.
Regarding the Revo X2 SSD.
If possible place the Revo in the 2nd PCIe x16 socket (white), as the P8P67 EVO doesn't have the PLX chip, and since you're fitting a sound card in a PCIe X1 socket, the 3rd X16 PCIe socket (black) will only run at X1 speed.

Having said that. I see you have 2 graphics cards, so this may not be possible.

If you run into problems with speed on the Revo, there are ways to get the speed up, give me a shout if you run into problems.

Hey thanks Dee . I must be confused about the third x16 socket.

Using 1 card 1st x16 socket excellent results. When using cards in the 1st and 2nd the FPS are much less than 1 card and with revo in 3rd very slow. So I got rid of 1 card in 3rd socket put the revo in the the 2nd x16 socket and everything is performing excellent at stock settings.
