Overclocking your Lite-On LTR-32125W, LTR-40125S or LTR40125W?

Wondering if overclocking to a Lite-On LTR-48125W 48/12/48X writer is possible? Here we have the test results!! The writer we tested the overclocking on is a LTR-40125S, but it should also work with a LTR-32125W and LTR-40125W.

Let's start with some shots from various progams, if you want to do the same, visit our Lite-On forum!:

Nero Info tool 1.01 information, Mt.rainier is supported.

Nero 5.5.8.2 detects the writer without problems, again Mt.rainier is shown as supported.

A Write transfer test done using Nero CD-Speed 0.85e beta. 37X average is pretty good. The disc we used was made by CMC Magnetics, and only 24X certified.

We of course wrote a test disc, a total writetime of 2 minutes and 44 seconds is nothing to complain about

But now the biggest question, is the disc readable?

Yes! Fully readable, and that is pretty impressive since discs out of the same spindle of CMC Magnetics discs works very bad (discs contains both C2 errors and unreadable sectors at the end) with a LTR-40125S with both firmware ZS0A and ZS0G. Seems like Lite-On have tuned the firmware very much so it now produces very good results with CMC Magnetics discs.

We tried about 10 different brands of CD-R discs and only discs from CMC Magnetics and Acer media technology would write at 48X. We also wrote an Acer (Only 12X certified!) disc at 48X and it was also 100% readable!!! We also tried several other disc brands at lower speeds and in all cases the write qualty seemed to be very high. Yes we are impressed of the quality of the produced discs.

Note that overclocking your recorder voids the warranty and may kill the drive or shorten down the lifetime of the drive in the worst cases. Use the tricks at your own risk and CD-Freaks takes no responsibility for the use of these tricks.
