| Operating frequency of Pentium III-M I’m looking for a utility which lets me control the operating frequency of my laptop with a Pentium III-M 1GHz processor (with speedstep technology). The processor normally operates at 700MHz, but switches to 1GHz when an application needs more processing power. Believe it or not but I would like the processor to keep operating at 700MHz. This way the processor stays cooler and the fan inside the laptop doesn’t switch on and off all the time. (With the fan running it’s quite a noisy thing and since I’m using it in the living room.....) Unless I’m playing a game I do not need the maximum processing power. My laptop is permanently running and connected to the internet and is not doing that much than an occasional download . I want to join the cdfreaks team "Power of United Burners Against Cancer" (see this thread), but when I download and install the client, it will probably make my laptop run at 1GHz and therefor quite noisy. Can anyone help me out? (b.t.w., I'm running Windows XP professional and the Intel Speedstep utility does not do the job)
