Not surrounded by surround sound...

I got some new 5.1 surround sound speakers for christmas, not from a big brand like creative but from my local superdrug store. I excitedly set it all up, and put some music on. Only the front two speakers and the subwoofer made noise, the back and centre speakers kept quiet.
I set my speakers in control pannel to 5.1 surround, still only the front two played. I went onto my soundcard options (Creative SB0410 im not sure if thats the information you need, but im no expert with computers) and told it that it was 5.1 surround too. I then went to test it, and sure enough i got each of the speakers to make a noise. "Front left, front right, back left" etc. But when i play music, or play battlefield 2, still only the front two speakers play (+subwoofer).
The speakers didnt come with any drivers but i know they all work (because of the test in soundcard options), they just wont on music or games, so how to i make it work on windows media player and all games? I wouldnt mind if it played the same sound from each speaker, and not surround sound, because i know many games dont do surround sound, i just want sound from EVERY speaker, because im greedy. Is there any way to do this or will all the speakers only work on surround sound games?
Sorry i know that was a long read but id be glad for any help.

You won't get surround for music, sorry.

Well, maybe you might get some faux-cloned thing where it doubles the music to the rear channels.

But Creative doesn't do surround unless it's a surround-sound game or DVD.

if you have winamp there are a few plug-ins that will give 5.1 with music but its not true 5.1 like one called "KB 5.1". But like Gurm said music is only stereo so you wont get true 5.1

Ok thanks guys, thinking about it thats the best way really just let it play its two speakers, i just need to get some surround sound games... or maybe an xbox 360...
