| Need updated driver for nVIDIA card Today when I was capturing video to my hard drive today my computer rebooted after about 45 minutes into a 2 hour capture. As soon as the desktop came back up, an MS Windows Error message appeared that said, "Computer restarted after an unexpected shutdown. MS Windows detected a possible device problem. The driver for the display device was unable to complete a drawing operation. Please check with the device manufacturer for a device update. Please tell MS about this problem. The display driver for nVIDIA RIVA TNT2 model 64(HP) seems to be responsible for the system instability". My HP Pavilion 7955 came with the nVIDIA driver installed so nVIDIA is now telling me they don't support it and can't provide an undated driver. This is the third time I have gotten a reboot while capturing video to my hard drive. Can someone tell me where I can get an undated driver for my nVIDIA RIVA TNT2 model 64(HP)? I would appreciate any kind of help with this. Thanks. |

I recently did a Windows re-installation on a box with a TNT2 card and none of the latest drivers are compatible. I had to revert to 71.98 to find a driver that would work. Arcarax has done some homework and has provided you with what you need, including a link.

| Re: Need updated driver for nVIDIA card A word of warning concerning drivers. I have a dell 8400 with the nvidia geforce 6800gt video card, using dells most current drivers. I have been using google earth to map fishing and hunting spots by looking at terrain features. I decided to try nvidia's purevideo to see if it improved anything. At the same time, I downloaded the most current nvidia drivers. After pulling up google earth, I could not see anywhere close to the detail that I was seeing before. I was shocked. I backed out the driver, and uninstalled the purevideo, and whala... I was back to seeing the detail I had seen before. Only download updated drivers to improve functionality, or to fix a known problem. Otherwise I would leave things alone...

| Re: Need updated driver for nVIDIA card Thanks for the words of caution Harley. That was my feeling, because it's not clear which driver I need for an update of my particular card (nVIDIA RIVA TNT2). Some have said use update 71.89 and others say use an older version. If I can revert back to my orignal driver if something like that happens to me I'll be OK with it. Will it be a problem to get back the original driver I had....if something goes wrong? How is that done? |

| Re: Need updated driver for nVIDIA card In control panel/system/hardware/device manager, you can select the device, select properties, and there is an option to roll back the driver.

| Re: Need updated driver for nVIDIA card I think I'll take heed to your earlier caution and not update my vcard unless I get another error referencing it. I'd rather leave things alone if I can. But if I do, I now know how to go back to my old driver. Thanks Harley. |

| Re: Need updated driver for nVIDIA card I finally got my Display Adapter (nVIDIA RIVA TNT2 model 64) update installed. I believe it was version 61.77. I was messing around between versions 61.77 and 71.89 and one of them finally allowed me to change my display to enable me to select 1280 x 1024 resolution.....couldn't go any higher than 1024 x 768 prior to this. HP tech support (live chat) was not help. You guys helped me the most. Thanks guys, (I told you I'd let you know when I updated). I bought a new LCD Monitor that asked me to make sure my system supported 1280 x 1024 resolution so I got back on this issue and got the correct resolution. I hate the small size of the fonts though.......hard for an old man like to to see those tiny things. |

You can also use the "Advanced" button and individually change your font sizes for each part of windows ![]() In firefox Ctrl+ will increae the size of your fonts. and Ctrl- reduce.
