| Been playing with an new Mobo for about a week now and I believe I have found a stable OC while keeping my CPU temps under 60 deg which isn't easy because Quads run quite a bit hotter than the C2D's. Motherboard: Asus P5K Deluxe/WiFi. P35 Chipset. BIOS: 0311 CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. (Lapped) RAM: Mushkin XP2-8500 Xtreme Performance DDR2 2Gb @ 392. 1:1 @ 4-4-3-10. Overclock: 3.528GHz. FSB: 392MHz. CPU Temp Idle: 32C. CPU Temp Load: Max 58C. Cooling: Themalright Ultra 120 eXtreme (lapped) with Scythe S-Flex 120mm fan. (Push) Misc Settings: Vcore: 1.450v. PCIE Freq: 100. Dram Voltage: 2.25 volts. Dram Static Read Control: Disabled. Transaction Booster: Disabled. Clock Overcharging Mode: Auto. CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled. PCIE Spread Spectrum: Disabled. CPU Reference Voltage: Auto. CPU Voltage Damper: Enabled. (Reduces Vdroop) CPU PLL Voltage: 1.50v. FSB Termination Voltage: 1.40v. North Bridge Voltage: 1.40v. North Bridge Reference Voltage: Auto. South Bridge Voltage: 1.05v. Legacy USB Support: Disabled. Stability test was running Folding at Home for 12 hours (all 4 cores at constant 100% usage) and using the Core temp log to monitor temps which never exceeded 58 degC during the 12 hour stability test. Some of the above settings are new and I have no clue what they do. ![]() PC Probe 12v shows 11.98v but DMM shows 12.12v under load.

Your temps look great! You could probably set the Ras to Cas# Delay and the Ras# Precharge to 5 in bios and it will be a little quicker or even better use 4 cas timings. Check out zevia's timings as he has the same ram doesn't he?. Just a suggestion. For an example try 1m Super PI mod at your current settings and then try again after changing to 4 cas.

| I am hearing the P35 chipset is requiring lower vcores for overclocks and seem to get higher speed as well congrats

| Yeah it really looks that way and Quad cores are really seeing good clocks. I ran Orthose 8 hours last night, so for me any machine I ever had can run it at leased that long I have never had any stability issues. I have the screen shots of it I will post later, they were to big and I then I resized them smaller in but the file size turned out larger I am still thinking with a little advice I can get 3.8 out of this chip, but 3.7 on air is more than I expected. I also put a larger washer between my 120 Extreme and that dropped my temps 5c, now it's nice and tightly mounted Quote:

I haven't tried my E6600 on this board yet but by looking at yours it will fly. Guess you are a happy camper. Looks like the Push/Pull fan set up on your TR Ultra works well. I will have to try that as well

| Ran across this while surfing the net and I think it's very informative on how the C2D reports temp and the usable temp limits. Definitely worth a read. Certainly helped me to understand the difference between Tcase and Tjunctuon. Core 2 DUO temprature guide.

I have 3 mobos Badaxe2 975x....on water with e6600L629F@ 3600 1.38v real by DMM..idle at 32/33 on cores(Tjunct), cpu temp(Tcase) per speedfan is 38c....underload Tcase/cpu temp per sppedfan is higher than Tjunction ie core temps....WTF 965-S 965chipset from DFI one e6600 L628A266@ 3300 1.45v idles on air at 43-45c...load in low 60s(cores) load cpu temp is typically lower 965-S third e6600L647G431 @ 3200 1.45v idle in low 30s on cores..load in high50s...cpu temp is in the low 60s max my results are nothing what this articles states Mobo sensors are tcase..read fron speedfan are NOT 15C lower than my core temps as read by TAT, speedfan or coretemp=Tjunction The article does not allow me to make any sense of temps at all...each cpu I have acts differently and so does each mobo I still say your ambient, delta from idle to load are keys..whith relative temp values being important and you must use your judgement to decide whether the temps are too high

I never said it was more cost effective than air but there is something thrilling about building a water loop..getting no leaks and surprising your wife that you would not fry the enite setup Storm rev2=$75 org. pump MCP655=$80 PA 160 rad=$90 MCW60=$60?? tubes, tube cutter, PTFE tape, metal worm clamps new Panaflo 120x38 fan distilled water, Zerex racing coolant fan controller=$12 If i recall I spent about $400 Since...I replaced pump and top= better performance and quieter In the last month..got a great deal on the best rad..PA120.3 for $100...so I needed a new case to fit in(need a new HDD cage and wheels for the new case) SILVERSTONE TJ07..HAHA.... if I am getting a new case...I need a new cpu block more fans..I need some 4 pin to 3 pin connectors, 3 pin extensions.... Oh wait..I need a "backup" DDC2 since they are not made anymore(but wait I have an unused MCP655 sitting on the shelf...) Oh wait I need sound dampening material becasue I want to try for a real quiet system(even less noise than my P180) OK..wife has no idea what i just spent..used some cash and paypal TJ07=$300 shipped(shipping was cheap..$19 most places wanted $25-40) Apogee GTX cpu block, wires=$80 shipped HDD cage/wheels=$75 shipped(this was stupid and a real rip off... )Backup pump/better top, fans=$130(real impusle buy )Dynamat sound dampening material(best deal from ebay) $60 for 12 sq ft..this usually no less than $80-100 Gaskets and screws=$30shipped Total= 300 + 80+ 75+60+ 130+30=$675 shipping was killer as I bought twice from same store becasue I had no idea the pump was instock when I got...I had to get everything form like 6 stores ($80 in shipping...sucks) I must be crazy I kinda got carried away..on Wed and bought everything...I did not realy get Anniv present or father's day gift...and I saved some money off to the side for this stuff...my guilt is showing...oh well I am going to move my P180 into my son's room and water cool just his cpu...otherwise I have no place to go with my P180 I could part out the Storm rev2, MCP655 and rad and recoup a fraction of there value....Storm=$40, MCP655=$40, Rad=$50
