| Re: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor don't hold your breath, back when the PIII 1000 Mghz came out, wait time was 3 months for a factory box from a high dollar company(Micron). Dell gets first dibs then other loyal companies. tigerdirect has got to be close to the bottom of the food chain how come newegg's not taking orders?

| Re: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor newegg has one listed in the dual core section: x6800 for an overprice $1,360. zipzoomfly: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...10431&SortBy=A and a separate page for x6800 I read that intel is asking retailers to hold shipment until 8/7.

| Re: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor it reported that the quad core has no benifit for gamers, but thats heavy duty for work load. I guess Intel is coming back with a vengance and not allowing AMD to have another chance to overtake the speed crown.

There's no single-core Core (2) architecture processor yet so it would be difficult to find out how the doubling of cores in each CPU increases gaming performance.

| Re: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor AMD next step. Direct Connect Architecture AMD’s Revolutionary Computing Platform AMD64 with Direct Connect Architecture can improve overall system performance and efficiency by eliminating traditional bottlenecks inherent in legacy architectures. Legacy front-side buses restrict and interrupt the flow of data. Slower data flow means slower system performance. Interrupted data flow means reduced system scalability. With Direct Connect Architecture, there are no front-side buses. Instead, the processors, memory controller, and I/O are directly connected to the CPU and communicate at CPU speed. Direct Connect Architecture is available only with AMD64 processors, including the AMD Opteron™ and AMD Athlon™ 64 processors, as well as with AMD Turion™ 64 mobile technology. Exclusive features of Direct Connect Architecture include: Integrated memory controller AMD64 processors with Direct Connect Architecture feature an integrated, on-die memory controller, optimizing memory performance and bandwidth per CPU. AMD’s memory bandwidth scales with the number of processors, compared to legacy designs that scale poorly because access to main memory is limited by external Northbridge chips. HyperTransport™ technology HyperTransport™ technology is a high-speed, bi-directional, low latency, point-to-point communication link that provides a scalable bandwidth interconnect between computing cores, I/O subsystems, and other chipsets. AMD Opteron processors support up to three coherent HyperTransport links, yielding up to 24.0 GB/s peak bandwidth per processor. Due out 2008, but I think you might see it earlier. Apple saying that they are going to have 8.0ghz processors out for late 2007. Things should get interesting. |
