help required hdd malfuncti0ned

hey everyone!
i m using ubuntu on dell inspiron N4050,n i m a total computer illiterate,as in the hardware/software stuff..a few days back i tried to do the partition of my hard disk using magic partition, i dint get any msg or notification/confirmation telling the partition is done so i set back the partition type to none but ..a folder appeared on the desktop named "system utiity" with an eject sign over it n i ejected that [couldnt have been more stupider] the laptop was working fine until i turned it off but when i turned it on it said :
"Loading DRMK V8.00...
DRMK Version 8.00
COMMAND.COM Build 37 - Jul 28, 2008
DRMK KERNEL Build 15 - Aug 8, 2008

C:\>"
I couldnt't do anything from there. I ran the diagnostic check which said everything is fine...my brother installed windows 7,hoping it might work after reboot.but now it says windows have been stopped frm starting to prevent any further damage to ur laptop it also says u need to update ur BI0S from system vendor because ur current bios is not ACPI compiant..i showed my laptop to someone n he says the hard disk`s gate has been turned off cuz i ejected the system utility,he says it needs t0 be 0pened.but m not sure if thats that..m really stuck! plz help me out.

DRMK = Dell Real Mode Kernel. Try booting from the Ubuntu CD and let us know what happens.
