Motherboard is Gigabyte GA P35-DS3L Revision 2. The Realtek audio has ALC888 codec and according to what I read, it supports up to 7.1+2 channels.

I have the latest Realtek Audio drivers downloaded from Gigabyte and it doesn't show Dolby Digital Live button (unlike my Asus, see attachment) or Dolby Digital 5.1 and PCM Output in HD Audio Manager selections.

I'm connecting the PC with Optical cable to my AV Receiver. The Receiver displays only 2 ch (stereo) even if I selected 6CH in the HD Audio Manager. With Asus, my AV Receiver show 5.1 and I can hear the difference.

Any ideas?

Why would it upmix/re-encode 5.1?
Set up your programs/filters to use SPDIF correctly.

Click the little monkey wrench icon next to the digital section, and select digital pass through.
