I mean I did pay like 400 dollars for this monitor and think it is only fair that it has no dead pixels. What do you think? __________________ Member of http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php? My

I understand perfectly your concerns, sadly warranty policies about dead pixels vary considerably from manufacturer to manufacturer, and probably from seller to seller.

It could be that with only a dead pixel you're not entitled to ask a replacement. At least, here in Italy it is a quite common situation. I suggest to read carefully your monitor's warranty to see what it says.

Hope this helps,

ET

You might want to check the return policy. At newegg there is an 8 dead pixel policy.

I think you should try at least.
I'm working with one dead pixel for last two years, and it teases me all the time

The policy for dead pixel returns is written in the manual. It is a pain but 1 pixel doesn't count, you can try though, but you won't be able to force it using consumer law.

it depends on who the manufacturer is, i'm sure there was something on here a good while back that said that there are a few manufacturer's that will replace a monitor with 1 dead pixel but most are 3+ dead pixels, not sure on this but it may also depend where they are on it.

That's why I say it's in the manual for mine it's 3 dead pixels in a block, or 6 if seperate.

many manufacturers have an 8 dead pixel policy. there might be one or two manufacturers that guarantee no dead pixels, but I'm not sure which ones do (and there's probably aren't many)

also, here's a note of clarification...

a pixel that is always black is considered "dead" whereas a pixel that is a color (either red green or blue) is only considered "stuck"

as far as replacement goes, dead + stuck = the total for warranty replacement, but stuck pixels may not be a lost cause.

there are some weird remedies available on the internet for fixing stuck pixels if you do a google search...it can't hurt, right!

some involve putting pressure and "massaging" the area with the stuck pixel through a towel or soft cloth to try to push some of the liquid crystals into that pixel where they belong.

other remedies involve reapidly flashing colors over the pixel for a few hours to try to "shock" it back into changing I guess.

none of them worked on my monitos (I only have 1 pixel stuck on green at the very edge of the monitor so it could be worse), but others on the internet have reported some success. do a google search...some of that voodoo may work for you!

If there are more than 5 Dead Pixels on the Screen it is out of Industry Standards....and you should be eligible for an Exchange....Standard is that 5 Dead Pixels is considered within the standard...Six dead Pixels would warrant an Exchange

Depends on country as each is different, beleive it or not "industry standards" are not necessarily global, and some companies will try to use consumer law to their advantage.

Industry standards = ISO class II, more than 3+3+2 dead pixels (?)
At least in Germany there's a thing called Fernabsatzgesetz, it allows orders to be returned within 14 days free of charge (except for S&H).
Glad to hear that everything went well.

yeah now i just have to pray i dont get another monitor with 3 dead pixels smack bang in the centre lol. I wonder if they'd exchange it again...lol. Honestly though i wish i hadnt returned it. It was more hassle than anything else. If i get a monitor with worse pixels i will NOT be a happy bunny.

If your in the U.K guys always remember you have 7 days to return ANY product bought online or over-the-phone 'for any reason what-so-ever' under the distance selling regulation 2000. You can send it back simply because you changed your mind, just make sure when unpacking stuff that you are very carefull as things returned for a full refund under the distance selling regulation 2000 must be sent back in 'as new' condition.

So, the dead pixel is actually black or white??
That can make a big difference...
