Computer only plays CD audio, no video

General Hardware Forum Discuss, Computer only plays CD audio, no video at Computer Hardware forum; Hey guys, newbie here. I know some about computers, but not enough to figure this one out. I'm trying to play some movies on a HP CD-R, but they won't work on my computer. Real Player, WMP, QT, and Winamp all play the audio, but I don't see any video.

Hey guys, newbie here. I know some about computers, but not enough to figure this one out. I'm trying to play some movies on a HP CD-R, but they won't work on my computer. Real Player, WMP, QT, and Winamp all play the audio, but I don't see any video.

The files are .avi.

I have an unnamed DVD-RW drive and CD-RW drive in my computer. The living room computer has a LG DVD-R drive and a Pioneer DVD-RW drive. The CDs play fine in that one.

In WMP there's a orange ! next to the file and it says "a codec is required to play this file. to determine if this file is available to download from the Web, click Web Help." Where's web help?!

And these CDs don't play in my Xbox 360 at all. Other burned DVDs do, though. Just for more info, I have XP and PowerDVD on both computers.

You have missing video codecs & the best way to find what you need is an app called Avicodec. Googling soon finds it.

Open the video with this app & it'll tell you if the codec is installed & if not assist you in finding it.
