Hi everyone, I'm having a dillema with my new TDK veloCD 16/10/40. It is the second generation plextor rebadge, CDRW161040 made in Japan and the firmware is currently v1.01. I am unable to extract audio at anything higher than 16-17x when the box claims 32x! My system should be able to handle 32x extraction, here are my specs:

Microstar BX Master motherboard
CeleronII 566 oc to 850mhz cpu
Quantum ata/66 20gb 7200rpm hd
128mb pc100 ram

Anyone have any ideas?

DMA settings in Windows?

And the DAE speed varries across the CD, depending on the point where the laser is. The avaerage might be 16-17, while the peak may be 32x)

I have DMA enabled and I have never seen this drive go above 17.x speed yet. Here are the results of a CDSPEED99 test.
