No Joy here I'm afraid
I've been trying to backup LOTR War of the Ring Securom 4.85.07.0028 with no success.

Using both LiteOn 24102B and ASUS 52 24 52 CDRWs

My Litey previously backed up every version of Securom thrown at it using the Blindwrite 4.2.5 software. I am talking NON emulated perfect copies here.

I have tried Philamber's guides for Alcohol and CloneCD non emulated copies with No success

Has anyone managed to backup this new version of Securom yet?

Have you tried with Plextor Premium's special writing way?
It should work!

Erm, this isn't terribly helpful for someone like dodgydude with Lite-on and Asus writers.

I havent' used aws , I have al liteon 52x. I thought that with the asus and liteys that aws wasn't necessary. If I were to recopy, what would be better for aws BW 5 or 4.5.7?

I debated wether to get the the plex or the litey, but I figured with the litey that I could always use twinpeak for securom. Does the premium still have problems with safedisc? I have heard that it had problems even if autoplay was involved

i dont have a problem with the premium and sd with 1.05 as long as i dont try to play the title on my toshi sd-m1402 dvd drive..if your target drives are liteons i dont think you would have a problem.

Wouldn'y bw 4.2.5 be better than 4.5.7?

Does your plex copy work with or without autoplay and BW 5?

Hi,
Max Payne 2 is SecuRom - 4.85.07.0022. I have used Bw to create a working backup. If you would like you can read my post on how I managed to back up SecuRom - 4.85.07.0022 with my asus 5224a

@Jamos. VSO has advised that topology extraction does not currently work with the Asus 5224a drives

Deus EX is an even newer version of securom. I have backed Hidden and Dangerous 2 which has the same version of securom on it. as MP 2

I retried Dues Ex again with my litey and had enhance weak sectors checked,. The game loaded and I was able to play part of the first level and then when I went to the second level it crashed. I tried to start the game up again but I got sent back to desktop.

I have been using cdrw disks as well. BW 5 no autoplay as well. This is bizarre , the game gets to a certain level than no longer will play. The backup is almost there...Tried 4.2.5 as well...no go either

it only checks protection on load im sure..so the question is did you install it from the copy? there are alot of issues with installing from the copy with using bwa..sounds like you have some issues with the install if you did. try playing the game with the original cd and see if it still crashes. if it does then uninstall, reinstall with the originals and use the backup to play with.

Well, half and half. I installed with the original install disc, but finished off with the backup (which read "play" disc, the number two disc). The first time I installed with both backups and got the thing where the game would load but it would crash if I tried to enter the level. when I used half and half, it would let me play the first level. So your idea about playing the game from instralled backups sounds plausible. But it's weird becasue I have installed HD2 from backups and it worked fine. This is the first time I have encountered this.

Also when I used BW5 and had the tweaker checked at automatic for topolgy extraction it wouldn't even install, however I checked use twinpeak metod it would install and load just not let me get into first level So even if I had a plextor and tried to install from backups I would have the same problem?

no the plextor uses a special write mode..you dont need to use the tweaker with it..the program recognizes the plex premium and makes a very close 1:1 backup..with that backup you wont need hide cdr or worry about using the backup to install with..twinpeak disks have been known to install incorrectly so im pretty sure thats your problem..try a full install from the originals then use your disk 2 to play..if it doesnt lock up then its a known bug with twinpeaks (it doesnt do it all the time either..you may get a good install you may not).

but with a plex premium backup i dont think you would get that problem..but im not telling you to go buy one just to do that either..they are 80 or so dollars.

But do the Plex premiums still require autoplay if used to copy the latest safedisc if one is using BW5?.

So theoretically, I could copy the latest securom again with twinpeaks and install from the backups and it may just work? Would slowing th read/write speed work

try bw 4.5.7..set your reading/writing speed a 4x do your physical extraction at 1x. see if that works better..i found my only problem with bw5 is the damn write speed is way too high.

but yes you could install from the originals and play with the copy.

also if you bought the plex premium it should work fine with sd titles using autoplay..mine does.

and remember autoplay doesnt hurt anything if you have a drive that can play the backup without autoplay it will work too just have to hide cdr media if its a cdrw drive..so you may as well just use autoplay..theres no reason to turn it off really unless your doing testing. And with the autoplay standalone all you have to do is have the client loaded its invisible to you on the computers your playing the game from.

thankx I found a copy of 4.5.7

By uisng in twinpeak I assume you mean create a bwa at 1x as opposed to the clone cd /twinpeaks method? I won't do that..too much work

well you should try both..you can use the clonecd twinpeaks method or you can create the bwa at 1x speed (it doenst take that long to do) and use bw4.57. see if it works.

Can BW 4.x and BW5.x co-exist on the same system without problems? They both use different pattin-couffin drivers and I don't want things getting messed.

I built my BWA at 1x patched the CloneCD image made using the protected PC Game profile in CloneCD 4.2.0.2, with twinpeaks burnt CD using the same profile and voila! Works great on every CD check.
