Your CDRW makes a big difference in copying this game. What is the make, model and firmware of your drive?

He's got it in his sig. Yes it is a EFM encoder.

Yes the virtual drives work for those games, but probably won't play when you burn the CD.

Before my current Liteon 52327s [52x cdr], I had a 48125w [48x cdr]. Sorry to say it but in my case, the 52x is the only drive that can do SD3. My "old" 48x couldn't back up my Prince of Persia and that's when I decided to upgrade. PoP, FarCry... my 52327s backs them up with no sweat (they pass CP check with my LTD163 dvd-rom).

I could be wrong but I think you need to upgrade. Heck, the drives are so affordable (at least here in the US) there's really no excuse not to.

The problem doesnt seem to be in copying the CD version of FarCry. It is the DVD version of the game that noone is able to burn to disk and get a working copy. I dont even think they sell the DVD version in the USA, but I may be wrong on that.

To think that we are all too cheap to have good hardware is a bit unfair dont you think. I probably have better hardware than you do, and still cant get a working backup of my FarCry DVD. And if you read the forum closely, you will see that you arent the only one that can copy the CD version.

By the way....My old 48X Litey backed up POP with no problem. Must have been something about your old 48x, because most of us didnt have problems with our older hardware. (actually, my 48x litey is really an upgraded 32X really old Burner. Figure that, copying POP with an old hardware, and getting a good copy.)

Have you guys managed to back up Far Cry (CD version) using a Liteon 52327S?

If so, with what software and settings?

And im not talking about being able to emulate it, but actually play the game without emulation on, from the backup.

I've tried B/W 4.25 (which i used to have sucess with, with both Safedisc up to and including 2.9 and can still do Securom 5), B/W 5.1.5 and Alcohol 120% 148.

With all three versions I can make a back up that will work on Alc's virtual drive, but wont burn and play. Which obviously means it's a burning issue, not a reading one.

I've also used my Toshi SDM1502 as the reader, no difference, still wont burn.

Splinter Cell PT is exactly the same. Both use SD 3.20 here in Oz.

So what are u guys with newer Liteons using to make a working backup, cause I seem to be missing something....

I tried this and it worked, After you use your burner to read and write (use the safedisc profile) as Razor1982 stated in his post uncheck fast error skip option....Now after burnt click on options Emulation and uncheck all then click on extra emulation and check bad sectors emulation and try your backup....

I have a backup of the DVD version of FAR Cry. It installed fine from the virtual drive but when I try to run the game it keeps asking for the CD. Any tricks or tips to get this to detect the game from the virtual drive?

Alcohol will make a copy of farcry without any problem, as well as Blindwrite 5. They just cant get past the copy protection. But they will give you the image for burning, if you have a dvd burner
