haven't tried it, but it looks promising. it's too new to form any opinions though really. The real test will be how quickly it stays up to date with new copy protections. for now it looks like a good option for those that want to stick with free solutions.

i understand that the nature of decryption often necessitates anonymous publishers, but this can also be is a detriment in terms of support. the only link I've found is for the program that is hosted on digital digest. Is there a website for the program itself?

Just another place to get it, no official site for the program itself, riphelp.com
I think the author does not want to be known. I don't think anyone would release a new program with the intentions of not keeping it updated.

i understand if the author wishes to remain anonymous...that's totally understandable.

i also agree that no author would release a program with no intention in updating it, but it happens sometimes...otherwise we wouldn't have so many neglected programs! (I'm not talking about legitimately dead software, i'm talking abandoned)

like i said, seems like a decent free tool for now, but it's real test will be in the updates and how quickly the author responds to new protections.

Time will tell, as the protection schemes change.

Just going on a wild assumption here without having seen the product at ALL, but, I'm guessing it does a scan of the disc and creates a PSL2 file for decrypter? If so, that's marginally useful, wouldn't need to be updated all that much, and pretty much does what the PGCEdit plugin already does.

I just found it on Digital Digest earlier and it backed up using DVDD (Find Me Guilty) just fine.

Does a little more than that, has the option to remove the last VTS if needed like in Ultraviolet, and remove tiny cells. This one does not need PgcEdit to run. In the program you can set up DVD Decrypter, FixVTS and DVD Shrink (useful in checking the compliance of the rip) if you don't use it to shrink.

Another useful program to check the compliance of the rip is DVD Remake Pro by dimad.

I wasn't suggesting it NEEDED PGCEdit, simply that it would probably work similar to how the PGCEdit PSL2 plugin works. It would seem to do a bit more, as you suggest, but, in essense it provide mostly the same functionality. I'm still betting under the covers it's creating a PSL2 which is kuel. I'm not saying there's anything at all wrong with this ripper. I was just trying to figure out how it works. It sounds like it makes things VERY easy which is great. More solutions like this are needed. I personally own AnyDVD and am extremely happy with it, but, some people come to me for advice that want to stick to freeware so I like keeping track of these types of programs. Let's hope they continue to update it if necessary.

Hi SamuriHL: I have been using this little tool with Shrink and ImgBurn for the last 12 hours, I have done some of the most problematic films, granted they are older but I can't seem to break this little gem. I hope you try it because your evaluation is respected here. Please let us know what you think?

quick question so i'm totally clear:

in order to use Ripit4me, you have to ALREADY have dvd decrypter, dvd shrink, and fixvts installed? does it also need a specific burning program or can you do what you want out of dvd shrink?

definitely seems useful for a freebie, but I think some will be disappointed that it is so limited in regards to the programs it works with...unless this isn't the case.

can someone clarify for me?

From what I can see since I used it the last coupla days, is that the main use is to rip using DVD Decrypter. Using shrink to only test the rip to see if it is ok. DVD Remake is another program that will do this. The guide and program state to see if it opens in shrink (I guess because it is free also) and if it does don't use FixVTS. FixVTS doesn't take too long and cleans the junk out so I have done it on the complicated rips before trying to open up shrink.

You don't have to use shrink on the rip. After the rip is on the HDD any other editing, compression or burning program can be used from my experience so far.

I have used it on easy to rip DVD's and a coupla hard ones, so far no problems with either.

ahhh ok. that makes more sense. looks like fixvts is the key to a lot these days. anydvd included fixvts in their ripper, now this program recommends using fixvts...quite the handy little program

Ah yeah, FixVTS is a great little program by jeanl and has straightened out many a rip , another is Menu Shrink, one of my all time favorites by jeanl also. I myself see no need for animated menus with audio. I like to save the space for the movie I like to keep the menus and chapter selection and at times Menu Shrink saves mucho MB's and sometimes a GB or 2!!

I have tested it against dvdfab on Ultraviolet and Anapollis, it's probably safer for accurate ripping since fab will skip errors, and the one click option is just as easy to use as fab, fab is faster 12/16 anap, 10/30 ultraviolet

can anyone confirm this?

It is a better ripper than DVD FAB for the skip error reason you have said. It works just like the pgcedit plugin but it is a lot simpler and more automated. I get a clean rip of a DVD in 15 - 20 minutes (depending on disc size). Pgcedit is not needed.

As said, shrink is not needed and is only there if someone wants the files automatically loaded into Shrink once FixVTS has finished.

There is also version 1.1.0.0 now. The automatic updater will find new versions and download them. Just overwrite the old version with the new one.

@geno888 during my time here at cdfreaks I have gathered much info and many tips about things. Like most here I enjoy helping people. I'm just passing info along like everybody here that does and trying to help.

It looks like a great tool for everybody to add to their DVD toolbox. And the best part about it it's free . It looks like a website is going up for it and an update came out today already.

So, did it work or not? If it did, then what was the problem? Not all DVD's can be done quickly. It depends on how complicated the arcoss protection is. I would expect most rippers would slow down to make sure it is done right.
