Problem with copying a DVD

Hi there. I am having a few problems attempting to copy a movie form my Imation DVD burner to a DVD. I have burned a couple of home digital movies from my camera to a disc, so I know it is not the disc or the burner.

I copy the movie using DVD shrink and then attempt to burn the disc using Nero Express 6. After it gets to 2% it fails. I have had the same thing happen 3 times now. A friend that uses the same software had a look but could not see anything wrong. I have attached a copy of the log file. Any help is greately appreciated.

In the log it makes mention of an illegal disc. Does that help anyone?

Could it be something as simple as the type of blank disc I am using? I have copied AVI to MPEG2 via studio 9 via my video camera, but I am not sure if that would make any difference.
Here I am at 6:30am trying to figure it out!!!! Help me please....

I went out and bought some TDK +R discs and it went through the process fine.

if anyone could answer the question as to why I can convert AVI to MPEG2 using Studio 9 but cannot burn the same type of disc when I use Nero, that would be helpful..

Your burner perhaps doesn't like this particular batch of CMC Magnetic discs. You can see the manufacturer ID in the log you posted - "Disc Manufacturer: CMC MA - G. AE1".

CMC Magnetics produce varying quality in my experience. Some work fine, others won't even get recognised as a DVD in my standalone player. Perhaps your burner doesn't like these discs or hasn't got a suitable burning strategy for them. You could try updating the firmware, but my Pioneer DVR-108 has the latest firmware and still produces some terrible results.
