Nerovision Express 2SE WILL NOT burn AVI files to DVD !!!

Just got a DVD burner and I've burned several movies using DVD Decryptor and DVD Shrink all with no problems.

I've downloaded a couple of large AVI files (700-750 MB) but NeroExpress won't burn these to DVD. When I select "Add Files" to the DVD project all appears well. I can even break up the movie into chapters, etc. But when the actual "Transcoding Streams" function is displayed NeroVision seems to just run forever and never do anything. The elapsed time continues to be displayed but the Progress meter stops after an inch or two. The "Time Remaining" displays as an hour or two left to go, but I've watched the "Elapsed Time" run into 18 HOURS or so (!) with no further progress. At this point, of course, I give up and abort the program.

Is it not possible to burn these AVI movies onto a DVD disc?? It seems possible, but Nero doesn't want to do the job.

Any input into this problem would be greatly appreciated. I tried a search through the forums with no real solution found.

Lets get one thing absolutely clear, NeroExpress does NOT burn AVI's to a DVDR. It converts an AVI into an MPEG2 stream and them burns the MPEG2 to a DVDR. The avi to mpeg2 conversion is not that good either, might be easy to use though.

I'd suggest you check out The FilmMachine for AVI to DVDR conversion in a simple to use few click solution with a quality conversion. http://members.home.nl/thefilmmachine/
