How to disable Cinavia

Cinavia removal

1st download an app that converts video to audio...I would recommend
Freemake Video Converter. then,
get an program named Audacity open the mp3 audio converted in freemake
and open the file in Audacity choose File>Open then Edit>Select>All
then go to Effect>GVerb
make sure to have the following config:

roomsize (m):1.0
reverb time (s): 0.1
Damping: 0.0
Input Bandwidth: 0.20
Dry Signal (db): -7.0
Early reflection level (db): 0.0
Tail Level: -17.5

save

then choose file export save as other uncompressed files then save...
make sure to merge audio sources with freemake video converter.

Have fun.

Do you really mean "convert video to audio"?
If so please explain somewhat as many would not be familiar with doing that.
Also I have to echo Adbear, why degrade the audio down to mp3?

There would be no reason to have the audio in mp3 audio format since it isn't compliant to blu-ray or dvd format.

Remember the original problem, namely the audio watermark is triggered in hardware blu-ray players.

It would be better to rerun your tests...keep the audio in a higher format than mp3...unless it is absolutely necessary to convert to mp3 for some reasoning...

This is for people who are getting the cinavia error on video files on the
BD machine.

Audacity loads any audio type of file AFAIK, doesn't have to be mp3.
Mp3 is just my choice.

I suppose by "convert video to audio" you mean demux the audio stream out of the video.

If not, I am completely lost and so would 99% of everyone else.

If that isn't what your phrase means, could you go into detail, step by step of what "convert video to audio" means and how to accomplish that?

...really the only way anyone would know exactly what you are doing is for you to put up a tutorial guide...that is step by step all the way through.
This is one of those times when just tellin it ain't gonna work....unless someone else would like to come along and explain...

Yes. Strip the audio from the video source, since the audio its self requires audio editing to accomplish this task. Audacity doesn't support video files.

I'm not working with BD so I don't have anything with Cinavia.
I have worked with Audacity .
If setup correctly it will open .flv or .vob .
It will only export the audio & in several formats.
So no need to use Freemake in the process.
What file extension do the files you are converting in Freemake have?
BTW I use Freemake Video Downloader but not the converter.

By the way, this process is so destructive to the sound that it isn't worth doing. Jagabo did an example over at videohelp.com and the sound was awful after doing this.

As far as I am aware, no one has independently verified if this actually works to defeat the Cinavia detection mechanisms in hardware and software players, but it won't be a popular solution no matter what.

Thanks Kerry . I DLed the samples .
Then I opened the before.mp3 in Audacity. I made the settings & got the same results as the after.mp3 that Jagabo did.
It might be interesting to try this on a movie soundtrack with voices.
I also probably wouldn't start with an .mp3.

If I had an actual Cinevia sound track it might show more though.

It depends on the movie its self. If the tone is high on speeches, it will not be too pleasant.
If you use a stereo on your HDTV for speakers…you can tweak the audio to make it better.
This is the price of Cinavia.
On the positive side, if Cinavia becomes widespread on porn…this can be a decent resort.
That’s why I have been saying boycott machines that have Cinavia. PS4 & maybe XBone
Will have Cinavia

I have verified it. So far, it works on the latest PS3 firmware. I am keen to receive feedback stating otherwise.

If you want to get around Cinavia, simply stop using PS3 for media file playback.

Hi firefly33 and welcome to the forums.

Exactly what procedure did you do?

Let me simplify it:
Cinavia removal

1st download an app that can extract audio from video...I would recommend
Freemake Video Converter. then,
get an program named Audacity open the converted audio file in freemake
and open the file in Audacity choose File>Open then Edit>Select>All
then go to Effect>GVerb
make sure to have the following configuration:

roomsize (m):1.0
reverb time (s): 0.1
Damping: 0.0
Input Bandwidth: 0.20
Dry Signal (db): -7.0
Early reflection level (db): 0.0
Tail Level: -17.5

Then click on:
Save

then choose file export save as other uncompressed files then save...this may take a while depending on the computers performance....
Now with both sources...
make sure to merge audio sources with freemake video converter...
drag and drop the video to the app...click on the audio speaker where there is
a link...select the audio file created with Audacity select desired Video format and wait for the file to be converted.

Same as the recommended setting above but the audio is horrible but it
is a start.

Nearly all Sony produced movies have cinavia on it. but it really does work.

basically what you have to do is get a program to extract the Audio file from the video file and then import the extracted audio file with Audacity and use with those settings mentioned in the first thread of this page. their a lots of programs out their than can extract and audio track from a video file. I use dvdfab but their a plenty of programs that can do it

But this is hardly new, it's been known for a while that if you are prepared to have poor quality audio you can destroy the Cinavia, but this method makes such poor quality as to make it useless. What's the point in having good quality video if the audio is messed up so much?

You are correct Adbear, I know a software developer that said this was not even close to a viable solution for Cinavia.

Now if you could find an audio distortion that broke Cinavia without shattering eardrums...

That's really the best option and it's how I reckon the DVDRanger method works.

I have looked at the other "cinavia removal methods" out there one being use low pass filter
7 Khz and another method that I saw that simply didn't work at all.
(mp4 video using aac)
Now low pass filter using Audacity/Sox cmd line app.
does work, however only on error code #1. Error code 1 is for cam and likely the
easiest way to remove cinavia. However I found error code #1 to not be important.
The solution I offered works on error code 1 & 3. btw if your into wanting error code 1
removed easy with little distortion I would recommed trying walkie-talkie audio
preset in equalization using Audacity to get around
error code #1 only. Will not work on error code 3. Error code 3 is the holy grail for cinavia
hell, they went as far as to have a 20 Minute timeout so hackers would not bother.
The audio isnt too pleasant but acceptable. That's the price of error code #3
...maybe it can be tweaked in the future. As always boycott
cinavia infected machines to avoid being in this position.

I'm not sure how you can say it's 'acceptable', the audio distortion is appalling, and not really listenable when trying to watch a whole film

I agree. This is a temporary solution.
I predict someone out there will break Cinavia the right way.
However it will require knowledge how Cinavia works to accomplish this, otherwise the sound will be degraded. Likely someone with software modding experience. he/she
will hack Powerdvd's Cinavia engine...but it will be challenging since Cinavia uses an inaudible random pseudo mechanism, which only the detector picks up.
