How to burn 8.5GB to a 4.5GB disc??

Hello all....

I got a annoying problem. Some of my movies take up 8.5 gb on a disc instead of the usual 4.5gb. And i dont have a duallayer burner, and besides the duallayer discs are wayyy to expensive . Is there any way i can copy a 8.5gb disc to a 4.5gb media. I have installed anydvd v.5.9.1.1. and dvd-cloner 3 which are able to do so. The movie go to the harddisk okay, but when the burning starts nothing happens. Does anyone know of other programs that can do the task?? All help is appreciated

I use DVD Shrink most of the time. Try that.

I second Colin's DVD Shrink use as it will allow you to compress the 8.5 gb down to a 4.5 gb DVD disc and allow you to edit out the DVD extra's that you don't need. You will lose some of the original detail as it is compressed but if you are really worried about the quality on HDTV playback, then it's probably in your best interest to fork over the money for a DL burner. Otherwise on most non-HDTV, the quality will be adequate.

I use Aimersoft DVD Copy and have just copied a disc that was 5.85 MB and the program automatically put me to the output type DVD-9 and ejected my standard DVD-R disc and told me to put a DVD-9 in. So I changed the type back to DVD-5, which has a max size of 4.7 GB. Then I tried copying it even though the size bar was completely full.while the size bar on DVD-9 was about 60%. It ran through the copy process two times and then did burn the whole movie to my standard disc. Even all the extras.. It took longer but the copied movie did play in my player.

Hi RonNietz

Welcome to the forum

You should look at the date of the last post/reply, in this thread the last reply was back in 2006 so I don't really think the OP is still needing help.

Again welcome to MyCE
