| DVDFlick Errors I recently helped someone with a project that DVDFlick worked for them.I had only used DVDFlick a little bit so I decided to play around with it to see how it would work if I needed to make a menu for a movie only backup. I haven't got it to complete even one of several movies I have tried. One of the errors I will post as an image & i will post a error.log with the other one. I am trying to use the VOBs from either the disc or a bu rip. Here's what I have tried for the source: (so far all have produced the same result) Strait from the copy protected disc with AnyDVD running strait to DVDFlick. Rip to HDD with CloneDVD2 anyDVD running both DVD5 & DVD +/-R DL(same as DVD9) . Rip to HDD with ImgBurn & AnyDVD running.(loaded the .iso into VirtualCloneDrive) This way CloneDVD2 can compress it to DVD5 for a write to SL disc or the .iso can be directly loaded into DVDShrink & compressed for SL disc. Strait rip with AnyDVD. Rip with DVDShrink AnyDVD running. The bu rips were the DVD Format. These are the errors: -1 from muxStreamsMPLEX: File was not multiplexed. No thumbnail could be generated for the file (file location & file here). This usually means the file is damaged or truncated. The rips burn successfully to disc with both CloneDVD2 & ImgBurn .They also play from the HDD on both VLC & WMC. This is the error.log: DVD Flick error log Version 1.3.0.6 build 734 Windows 6.0 build 6001 Service Pack 1 *** Project info EncodeProf 2 Threads 2 OverScan 0, 3 TargetRate 0 TargetFormat 1 TargetSize | Re: DVDFlick Errors DVD Flick is for converting .avi files (xvid, divx, h.264, and others) into dvd format. It will not work with .vob files. |

| Re: DVDFlick Errors It will work with some .vob files.Usually the first .vob from the main movie will process to finish with no error .When loaded by itself. VTS_01_1.VOB for example. The last .vob never finishes without error.VTS_01_5.VOB for example. When it finishes the first .vob you have VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders for that .vob with its own menu. Not much use without the whole movie but DVDFlick did process that .vob on almost all rips from various rippers. Were all these rippers producing a corrupted or truncated .vob by the last .vob ?Especially since those DVD folders would sucessfully burn to disc. The error happens in the combined sources phase.I think this may be caused by syncing the Audio & Video some way I'm just not sure how & if there is a way to correct it. |

| Re: DVDFlick Errors You could always combine the vob files into one mpeg2 file that you can then import into DVDFlick. Vob2Mpeg will do this easily and quickly. |

| Re: DVDFlick Errors Kerry56; I knew about Vob2Mpeg & even have it.I just wanted to see if someone knew why DVDFlick would find problems with files that really weren't there. Also I hoped someone would tell me they had been sucessful doing this & maybe how. It would seem that DVDFlick would be made for adding a menu to a bu of a movie that had to be ripped as movie only. I probably should know but is using Vob2Mpeg a form of encoding the vob files just one more time ? Whappo in this case a simple extension change didn't work. |

| Re: DVDFlick Errors Sorry, I don't use DVDFlick on a regular basis, just enough to test it and be able to recommend it as a simple avi to dvd program. So I don't know what is going on in your case. I prefer FAVC or AVStoDVD with this type of program, and actually use ProCoder/DVD Lab Pro for my own conversions. If I wanted to build a new menu for a decrypted dvd, I'd use DVDLab Pro. Vob2Mpeg doesn't reencode the video, it just merges the vob files and changes the extension to mpeg. So it shouldn't affect quality in any significant fashion at all. |

| Re: DVDFlick Errors Simply re-naming .vob to .mpg doesn't always work....Using Vob2mpg or Vobmerge, does not re-encode....That would be the way I would recommend doing it, then import the single vob or mpg in DVDflick.. Sometimes an app might have an issue in the muxing phase when using a higher bitrate..I know FAVC does occasionally..... Maybe try lowering some..7000-7800kbit/s...see if that helps.. Edit: I also prefer AVStoDVD or FAVC v1.06...Even prefer ConvertxtoDVD over DVDflick, but to each his own eh!..

| Re: DVDFlick Errors Thanks Kerry56 & t0nee1 I wanted to know if Vob2mpg lowered the quality any & now I do. I actually have both AVStoDVD & FAVC v1.06 I haven't used them much though.DVDFlick seemed to work for Freedom Patriot on his project for the most part. The menu creator I have used most is DVDStyler & it can do a nice job.I did a menu for Beverly Hills Chihuahua with it.It has a video/audio main menu with a still for the chapter menu. |

| Re: DVDFlick Errors "No thumbnail could be generated for the file (file location & file here). This usually means the file is damaged or truncated." I just reproduced this error. I'm not sure why ffmpeg doesn't like the vob. I created it with DVDShrink, the other 3 vob's are fine. I'll have to dig a little deeper into ffmpeg to see what's up. |

| Re: DVDFlick Errors Whappo;I'm trying the .mpg created out of the main movie vobs with Vob2mpg in DVDFlick.I will post if this works. These main movie vobs are from a full size DVD9 rip with CloneDVD2.I checked them with VLC & copied just those vobs to another folder & then used Vob2mpg. You didn't say but it was the last vob wasn't it ? I don't have anything to back it up but my suspicion is it's the credits. |

| Re: DVDFlick Errors The Vob2mpg converted .mpg worked with no errors.I didn't burn it but VLC played it OK.VLC doesn't like to load DVDFlicks menus initially but a hit of enter usually solves that & when burned to disc for some reason there is no problem. I have a vob merge program I'm also going to try. Then I have one more thing I want to try with DVDShrink. The mpg took almost an hour from start to finish in DVDFlick. |

| Re: DVDFlick Errors Doesn't DVD Flick read movie IFO file? It's better than having to merge a sequence of movie VOB files into one MPEG. Sometimes there are many titles in the VOB files and you just want the program to process the movie title only, so merging the files together means to merge all the titles together. The more complicated scenario is when there are multi-angles involved and you just only want one angle only. AFAIK, CXD can read both IFO and VOB files. Anyways, you get your problem resolved. |

| Re: DVDFlick Errors toaddub;DVDFlick doesn't use the IFO file.Even vobs aren't in the supported files list.To use a vob you have to select the all files option. I carefully selected the main movie vobs out of a full DVD9 rip by giving them a short preveiw with VLC. I guess I could have done that with DVDShrink, CloneDVD2,or DVDFab movie only. Both ways worked though making all these vobs either 1 large .mpg or .vob. I'm not sure what the effect on multi angles would be but I do know that every vob in a full DVD9 rip couldn't have been joined because that would include the other movie preveiws & directors commentery . I used the trial version of CXD quite a while back but I think you are correct. The only problem I saw is I should have made a chapter setting. I actually like DVDStyler better but it needs the same large single vob or mpg(I've never used it with a .mpg) to work. For freeware they are some of the best I'm sure DVDLab Pro could do a lot more .They couldn't sell it for what it costs if it didn't. |

| I thought I would just resurect an old thread for this: Here is an error I'm getting on the movie John Carter . I get the same error before & after FixVTS. Flick01.jpg This is the .vob that got the error: FlickMI01.jpg This is one of the other .vobs: FLICKMI02.jpg I can't find any of the differences listed in the error. I will be posting some other errors I've been getting . I just have to create the files again that had them.

| You've had issues with this copy of John Carter before. Looking at the Slysoft forums, this is a movie that has been identified as having some bad copies from the manufacturer, both in dvd and blu ray formats. Bad pressings, in other words. You may have a disc that decrypts and rips, but there is an inherent flaw that resembles the bad sector protection that is added, only these are "real" bad sectors. |

| @ Kerry , You may be correct but I have had the same error from other movies . Funny thing as long as I leave it NTSC the SL DVD I made plays fine. So does the DVD 9 from my external hard drive . There is on odd thing I haven't seen before its' standard is "Component" instead of NTSC or PAL. Maybe that is part of the problem. I will see if I can try another movie & get this warning. I switched to DVDFlick when I couldn't ever get AVStoDVD to convert correctly. I tested AVStoDVD with XxX & got about the same result.

| Yo Cholla have you tried using the conversion module in 'Magic DVD Ripper' to convert to 'Original' format. ?

| Just to add to my last post... The reason I ask is because I have ran into this a few times where the backup plays fine but DVD Flick couldn't process one of the .vob files and FixVTS was unable to correct the issue of the corrupt structure of the vob file, but!! after converting to .mpg DVD Flick was then able to process the .mpg file ![]() If you have not tried this you may want to give it a shot. ![]() SJ.

| I don't have Magic DVD Ripper . I haven't used a trial on it . So it might be a possibility . I only seem to have a problem with converting this DVD . A strait rip to a harddrive seems OK. A burn from a rip with DVDFab or AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 works OK . Whether I burn it with ImgBurn or CloneDVD2 . I've done the test burns to SL DVD RWs except for one to a SL +R . It all started when I wanted to convert it to PAL to see how well that would work. So I would have a working PAL DVD I could use to try to convert back to NTSC . With the converters I had this seemed like it would be simple. It is possible it could be the disc itself that has real bad sectors like Kerry posted. I don't know I've had any bad presses but we've all heard of them so they are out there . Maybe it was just my turn to get one.

| Not sure if you saw my second reply to add to my first but once converted to .mpg you can then process .mpg through DVD Flick which means your able to convert that to PAL couldn't you, because your no longer trying to process the corrupt structure of that vob file. As stated in my last reply it has worked for me several times.
