Just go to "reauthor mode"

Just go to "reauthor mode" in DVD shrink. and
only use one of those versions.
Drag it over to the other window.
cut out extra languages.

with vobblanker just used the setting it installed
with. Sounds like you got the entire dvd ripped to hardisc
if its that huge. And you were able to load it into dvd shrink.
So your on the right path.

Just finish up with dvd shrink

Thanks Luis for that info.

But wouldn't it be nicer to BUY your copy of Nero and if you like buy the other software you might need? DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are free and work pretty good for me. By the way, you should get the latest version of DVD Decrypter.

I had that same issue w/ Resident Evil when it was released. I found vobblanker to work the best. However with the new DVD DECRYPTER out I have no worries.

As far as little black book... DVD shrink worked fine for me. Another film very hard to copy is Open Water. Even VOBBLANKER wouldn't open that film.

However, the new DVD decrypter is doing just fine.

I didn't find that it worked with just the old DVD decrypter.

Hey everyone,

I have had the same problems with DVD Shrink hanging and stalling on a few brand new movies. Sony has come out with a new copy protection called Arccos, basically a new type of bad sector protection. The newest version of AnyDVD from Slysoft ver 4.5.4.1 has the new tools to remove or get around that.

The other movie that I had a real problem with was Little Black Book, and once I had AnyDVD installed and working right DVD Shrink had no problems at all pulling both of them off correctly and shrinking them at the same time, so you do not need to copy it first then compress, with AnyDVD in place Shrink works as normal.

I was able to get my hands on a copy of Forgotton and it was really bad with the "bad sector" message and once again with AnyDVD and Shrink it worked fine.

Well thats my 2 cents good luck everyone out there.

That is one of the updates with the new DVD Decrypter it works around the new Arccos protection. I just tried it tonight on the forgotten (same protection) and it worked like a charm. The backup works great.

After doing hours of online research and reading several forums all over the world
in-depth to see what has worked, and what has not, I have finally found a FLAWLESS solution for the U.S. Region 1 disc that was purchased in the midsouth region of the USA.

CloneDVD2 2.5.4.3

AnyDVD 4.5.4.1 Beta

ON THE 1st try:

I made an absolutely FLAWLESS copy on a DL Disc

and...

another PERFECT copy on a 4.7gb Disc, also on the 1st try, and it came out GREAT set to 53% compression, especially on the home T.V.

I have tested both copies on 3 home dvd players (sony, apex, and a magnavox.) *ALL WORKED*

I have also tested both copies on 2 DVD-ROM drives, and 2 DVD-RW drives with Windows Media Player 10 & PowerDVD 6. *ALL WORKED*

I do not know if any other versions would work, but Im sure as long as you have at least CloneDVD2 2.5.4.3 & AnyDVD 4.5.4.1 Beta you should be able to make a working copy of your modestly priced DVD.

Peace and Luv,

DJ Mind

I used dvd xcopy express, the program that everyone says is so bad and it copied RE2 without a hitch so......juggling 1000 different programs to copy 1 dvd isnt always such a good idea I guess.
NOTE: The movie is B.A.D. anyway

@boobytrap

you should have at least the following software on your pc:

CloneDVD+AnyDVD
DVDDecrypter
Vobblanker
DVDShrink

With one or the other program I was always able to copy DVD's with
new implemented copy protections till yet.

If all other's failed Vobblanker and AnyDVD in combination worked everytime for me.

Somebody should close this thread now as in the meantime AnyDVD has been updated
and has no problem with Resident Evil anymore

1. Load DVDShrink and let it analize the Disc
2. In the "Unreferanced Materials" highlight "Title Menus"
3. Under DVD Structure highlight BOURNE_SUPREMACY and uncheck audio streams you do not want, I selected French
4. Under Unreference Material highlight Title Menus
5. Under Compression Settings select No Compression
6. Under DVD Structure hight BOURNE_SUPREMACY again
7. Notice under Compression Settings tab the Video displays Mixed Compression
8. Click on Backup! and the rest you all know
There's an easier way...

Pick which streams you want to copy like normal. When you're done, and ready to do the backup, you will get the usual pop-up box. Select the "Quality" tab and click on the "compress video with adaptive error compensation" option. That should allow you to back-up "Bourne Supremacy", "Resident Evil 2", "The Punisher" (and other's, I'm sure).

Keep in mind, turning-on the "adaptive error compensation" is gonna make the whole process take a lot longer. Let it start and then go to bed.

I my problem is when you hit play on my home dvd player the burned dvd starts off with a black screen and skips all the way to the end of the dvd. I can still watch the movie by skipping back to the second title or frame, but if I go to the first title or frame it messes up all over again.

I have this problem with Resident Evil 2, The Grudge, and Little Black Book.

I know a dude who had a hard time ripping re2, his sol,n was:
Installed trial version anydvd(to defeat extra protection)
Ripped with DVDShrink 3.2 (Reauthor mode)
Not done , though, as audio was the director comments over the soundtrack.
Split the audio and video streams using Vobedit. Got 4 *.ac3 video files, one
large and 3 small. When played , the 3 small files are director comments
and the large the main audio. Reassembled using ifoedit and the desired files..(RE1 was good to go at this point as it, too, had audio scrambled, but no bad sector protection)
Still no luck as now there was no audio at all. Took ac3 file and created a new one with ac3machine. Reassembled with ifoedit and it worked, almost. audio was out of sync. Used ac3machine on the original ac3
but with 1 second delay. Reassembled with ifoedit and PRESTO! Perfect! Ran the resulting ifoedit files through DVDShrink one more time as
PowerDVD wouldn't work on the ifoedit files for some reason. He took files and burned to dvd. He got himself a RE2 dvd

Tune DVD Decrypter - First, it should be version 3.5.1.0. or newer Go to "Tools", "Settings", set everything to "Default". Then in the "General" tab change, "Removal Method" from "Normal" to "Aggressive", in "File Mode", "tick" Remove IFO/BUP PUO's." For ripping in the "ISO, Read Mode", "tick" "Remove IFO/BUP PUO's" there also. in the "CSS" tab, under "CSS Cracking Method", choose "Brute Force ~> I/O Key Exchange" and "On Failure" choose "Yes". . IMPORTANT: In the "I / O" tab, in the bottom right, "tick" the box which says, "Ignore read errors". This is also an excellent setting for dealing with lightly scratched discs which may cause ripping problems.
This helps out alot of newer movies for decrypter to work ok.

This may help Some people

Never mind found the solution

Here it goes:

Its real easy... to rip RE2. I have 2 backups, and well this is the first one that gave me troubles. vobBlanker works like a charm.

Install/Unzip to chosen directory

Run exe

For input folder select your dvd drive that has RE2

Open up the video_ts folder and hit ok

then select output folder to where u want the movie copied too

Then hit process... thats it!!!
Don't worry about modifyibg it in anyway cause I didn't really see the need for it.

Open DVD Shrink and open file point to where the files are located for RE2

AND BOOM THERE U GO!! Just carry on the way u do it just as if u put the dvd and and started shrink.

Pick out what u want and rip, it works great no problems(for me at least)

Vob Blanker is free too...
