Movie copy software Discuss, DVD movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Cannot be ripped at Software forum; Just like some of you, I had the same problem(s) burning RE2. After Vobblanker had run it's course, I attempted again by using Elby CloneDvd (with SlySoft AnyDvd ) to burn the Video_TS. Problem is...Clone is "telling" me that the file is "too big" to burn. What am I doing

Hit the middle or top button. Browse to the file not the DVD in the drive.

Rolling56, lots of Thanks for responding.
Unfortunately, I had to run off to work. I will, however, make another attempt tonight. I wonder if Slysoft or Elby might update their programs to solve this problem.

you guys rock
I also had this problem...so I dl VobBlanker (never used it before...wasnt sure what to do with it =/ ) but I think I kinda figured it out somewhat...
I had it rip the files to an empty folder on my desktop, then I used dvdshrink analyze and back the files from there...worked great.

@MadRussian

Vobbblanker only rips the file to your harddisk so the files are probably to big
to burn it directly to dvd what you have to do now is to transcode the material
with dvdshrink or clone dvd to fit on ond dvd-r (+r)

(instead of opening the dvd from dvd drive you have to open the the dvd from
the folder you have ripped the files to using vobblanker)

I have all the latest versions of AnyDVD, DVDregion+CSS free, DVDdecryptor, DVDshrink, CloneDVD, Nero.... nothing works.
It's a region 1 DVD with Arcoos Protection, brand new with no scratches.
Shring Stucks on 58% of analysing and DVDdecrypter in the begining.
Tried 3 different DVD readers with the same results.
Slysoft has made a beta of AnyDVD, which seems to solve this problem:

I just used Clone dvd2 to copy my Resident Evil: Apocalypse, the software ripped the cd perfect and I used DVD Shrink to do the rest.

Thanks to the Slysoft team

I'm new here and very dumb when it comes to making a backup copies of my DVD's. I usually use DVD X Copy 321 Express to backup my DVD's, but it would not work with Resident Evil. I read what you guys were doing to copy it and was a little intimidated by using two or more programs to make it work. I downloaded and tried about 4 or 5 different things with no success.

Finally; I downloaded and installed Super DVD Copy and coped the movie down to the hard drive in two disc mode, then burned it back to a DVD all in Super DVD Copy. It works great in my Phillips DVD Player and in my computer.

So if anyone is looking for a single program solution... I would try Super DVD Copy... After my eval runs out I suspect I will buy this program and use it when DVD X Copy fails me.

Thanks for all the help!!!

Your the man. DVD Shrink stopped analyzing it for me at 16%. I dl'd anydvd then used DVD Shrink again and now as I type it is at 66% of the encoding process.

AnyDVD is a great program and I will be purchasing.

I haven't read this entire thread, so maybe someone mentioned this already. But for those of you who use dvd decrypter for ripping, you can do it with that soft too.

Over at doom9.org forum, you can d/l a small psl file that will allow decrypter to bypass this protection (this particular file is ONLY for this movie, it tells decrypter where to skip over the protection). Each movie needs it's own psl file to bypass the protection.

You can get it in this thread over at doom9.

After you d/l and unzip. Just start decrypter. Go to File--->Protected Sectors List---->Import. Browse to the psl file and click OK. Now rip it and it will work. Worked great for me.

This is the file needed for DVD Decrypter, just save it as "DVD_VIDEO.PSL" (Everything, the word PSL as well as the # sequences must be in the file)..

Get AnyDVD 4.4.0.0. It worked great.
I used CloneDVD2, selected copy DVD titles and chose #2 movie file.
It burned perfectly.

AnyDVD 4.4 will probably work with about any DVD burn program.
Good Luck

I too had trouble backing up Bourne Supremacy, and Shaun of the Dead. Both titles were from Universal, and both titles had identical video clips that were messing up the encoding process. I simply used DVD Shrink to replace the clip with a still image (used the default still image provided by DVD Shrink). (Change compression setting from 'Automatic' to 'Still Image'.)
The clip was located in the Unreferenced Material Section. I don't remember the name of the clip, but if you preview the clips using DVD Shrink, you will see the beginning of the Universal logo and some weird guy jumping. The entire video segment is just a loop of that small clip. I like to keep menus and stuff, so I don't like to re-author, and this seems to have worked for the time being.

Like I said, it worked for Bourne Supremacy, and Shaun of the Dead. I have not tried any other vids from Universal, but if you do, keep us posted.

VobBlanker will work.
DVDDecrypter version 3.5.2.0 released yesterday (1/05/05) will work.
Rip with one of them.
Compess or reauthor with Shrink and burn with whatever program you like.
I used Nero OEM version 6.3.1.25.

DVD Decrypter cannot even rip this movie even after running it in DVD Software first.

Sorry, I didn't read the whole thread. Will try this then reply back.
I wish DVDShrink would work, because many DVD's are going to this protection. Little Black Book has it too.

like Olli stated the new beta version of AnyDVD fixed the problem. I have heard from a friend that he was able to ripp RE2 with smartripper. then threw it by clonedvd2 for the encoding. I havent had the chance to back this up yet. Should be getting my disk to play with soon..

I successfully copied Resident Evil: Apocalypse using Clone Dvd2 and AnyDvd 4.4.1.1. It plays beautifully. Just enable copy protection based on unreadable sectors in the anydvd options

Sorry guys but i have a slight problem with VOBBlanker/DVDShrink
I tried using VOBBlanker to do the trick for the movie "Little Black BOok"
ANd everything worked fine. I dl VOB from http://www.posunplugged.com/jsoto/
thanks to sinastar. So i saved it in a folder on my dekstop and opened dvdshrink
but the file was too large and i can't compress it anymore on shrink even
if i already taken out french language. On DvdShrink it says that the file
is almost 8 GB long. This doesn't sound right, it has to be at least 4.5GB. Please Help
Thanks in advance

Sinastar:
Just tried VobBlanker it worked.
Then used DVDShrink.
VobBlanker is free get it here.
