Can't copy LOTR RETURN OF THE KING extended.

I have liteone LTR 832S and I can't copy this disk. The ANyDVD and DVDClone along with DVD Decrypter just hangs and tells me it's an invalid DVD, BUT the DVD plays fine.

Check for scratches. The disc could be bad. It doesn't have any whamma-jamma protection, or anything like that.

Re: Can't copy LOTR RETURN OF THE KING extended.

Just the usual suspect advice... if the disc is new and won't read in your DVD burner or DVD-ROM drive, return it saying it won't play in your standalone and get another copy. If you've had it a while and it has been subject to domestic handling (read abuse) then while using DVD Decrypter if you get stuck on a .BUP file, then no worries - .BUP files are just backups of .IFO files. Skip read errors from .BUP files and once the disc is copied to hard drive copy the .IFO file to a .BUP file. However, if there's problems reading a VOB file then you can try the disc in another drive if you have one. If you don't have a second DVD drive to try, your only option is to use a friend's DVD drive in their computer. The last resort and painful option is replace the disk I'm afraid.

Regards

TZ

Edit: this is assuming the disc is free from dirt and fingerprints etc.

Re: Can't copy LOTR RETURN OF THE KING extended.

I agree with most of the above. The Extended versions of all of the LOTR films have none of the newer protections (Sony ARccOS, or RCE, etc.) I was able to rip all of these using DVDShrink. I also know others had no problems using DVDDecrypter, to rip all files to their hard drive in file mode. Default settings, and last versions, in both cases.

Clean the disc.

Try a different burner, as some will choke more often on dirt, scratches, etc.
