Samsung BD-UP5000 vs LG BH100 Blu-ray/HD DVD player, which one?

These two are the only blu-ray and hd dvd combo players in the market today, afaik. But considering the price:

US$799, Samsung BD-UP5000 MSRP http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/Samsung...to-stores.html
US$699 LG BH100, MSRP $1000 http://www.electronicexpress.com/pro...&refer=6&cpc=6

which one you would dream to buy? (Note the word "dream" )

Any technical issue if exist to consider one from the other?

I would buy the Samsung without doubt. I have heard too many good things about Samsung and their players to buy anything else.

The LG is getting a lot of bad rep over issues it seems to have. Neither of these units will at present decode the lossless DD and DTS codecs, which makes them less than desirable for audio buffs.

The cheapest option, by far, is to buy separate players. So my answer is: neither.

I would wait a while, neither of 'em are "good".
If you feel urge for getting a player I suppose you have a Xbox 360 (rather undesireble player since it sounds lika microwave) or a PS3 for the time being.

Getting separate players is not going to be a lot cheaper (might be more expensive), if we consider 1080p players for both HD and Blu-ray. Toshiba A35+PS3 will be around $800. But might be better overall although some reviews mentioned that image output of PS3 is not the best.

I read that LG supposed to released BH200 that address issues in BH100 such as support for HDi, HD DVD menus and CD playback. But Samsung beats LG by releasing the BD-UP5000 early before xmas.

CDan, according to this, the samsung has onboard Dolby TrueHD decoding.

The audio decoding issues are with lossless (MA) type audio, not the HD type which is not lossless. Most people expect more from a high-end player than to offer the same audio as a low-end player.

1080P is a complete hype, and not needed at all. Any well-made video will look the same in either 1080i or 1080p, especially on screens under 60". Right now you can buy 2 players for about $600, or less. Game consoles are a different matter, and not in the same class really.

None forme, I still would go for the computer drive (ODD) type, means combo from Pio or LG.
