Programs for PI/PIF scanning?

CD, DVD and Blu-ray Writers Discuss, Programs for PI/PIF scanning? at Hardware forum; Hello everyone, I have been using kProbe for scanning my DVD burns but I read that my 811s may be mis-reporting results (I am currently burning with a NEC 2510a with Herrie's B5 firmware). I am interested in scanning using my NEC drive but am struggling to find other programs.

    Hello everyone,

I have been using kProbe for scanning my DVD burns but I read that my 811s may be mis-reporting results (I am currently burning with a NEC 2510a with Herrie's B5 firmware). I am interested in scanning using my NEC drive but am struggling to find other programs. I have downloaded DVDInfoPro, but for some reason it will not let me scan with my NEC, only will scan with my Lite-On.

Any ideas on how to fix this DVDInfoPro oddity or other programs would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Tom

Just checked the forum on DVDInfoPro and saw that it doesn't list the NEC as a supported drive. One mystery solved...

Neither does CDSpeed - not all drives can report errors like this, or at least if the can report them, it's not in any form that is currently supported.

With no additional capabilities, the best you can do is scan for unreadables (Cdspeed surface test) and check for a good transfer curve (Cdspeed transfer rate) - a usable burn can still dip at the end, but it's a bad sign if it happens earlier than you'd normally expect.
