| Hello, I hope someone can help me. i receive een error when i try to burn a DVD (lite on) on my acer laptop. i tried with Nero and with Ashampoo 9. I run vista. With both programmes burning cd's works fine. but when i try do burn a dvd (i use Platinum dvd+r which work fin on mij pc with also a liteon dvd writer) on my laptop (vob of iso) I receive an error. Ashampoo gives the announcemennt that the DVD is ok to burn, but when i start burning it stops and mij dvd opens. Could it be a hardware problem. i tried to update the driver and firmware but i am on the latest versions. Hope to hear from you Greetings Rob Tabbers (holland) |

| Hi Rob, welcome to the forum ![]() Can you tell us the model number of your LiteOn laptop drive? Also, what are the rated speed of those Platinum DVD+Rs? Platinum can be made by quite a few manufacturers (then just branded with the Platinum name), so it's possible your Platinum discs have a mediacode that isn't supported in the lappy drive's firmware. I'd try something a little more likely to be supported, like Sony or Verbatim (just a small pack). At least if those burn successfully, it would rule out any hardware problem

| Thanks for the log. ![]() That's quite an old burner - you see the media code in the log (RITEK F16)? That is the media code that your Platinum discs have, as they were made by RiTEK. I would definitely try Verbatim or Sony as I suggested earlier, as they have more chance of being supported by a burner of that age. ![]() Also, I see "Write Protected" errors in the log - is that disc definitely empty?

| Hi thank you for the respond on the log. I wil go and try this weekend to burn on sony dvd+r I am shure that the platinum dvd was empty i tried it with 3 diferent dvd's from my spindle Thanks so far Greetings Rob |
| Oooh one other thing the laptop i sno 1,5 year old and a half year ago the shop where a bought it replaced the dvd writer because the oter one was broke. As i understand correctly the shop replaced the dvd writer with an old one? that i will not accept afcourse and i will go back to the store. Can you tell me how old it is? Greetings Rob |
| Good luck - hopefully this will be successful. If not, Verbatim discs are always worth a try! ![]() Edit: when I said "old" - I mean, it's an older model drive, there are newer models around now. I didn't mean old as in, used or anything.
