CD and DVD Writers Discuss, Problem With QSI DVDRW SDW-041 at Computer Hardware forum; Hi I have a laptop and have a QSI DVDRW SDW-041 internal drive, I can read both CD and DVD's, but can only write to CD's?!?. First, make sure your DVD media is DVD+R or DVD+RW. If I'm right - then this drive WILL NOT write DVD-R and DVD-RW media.

Also check the firmware version of the drive (You could check this in nero --> Recorder --Choose recorder --> highlight the QSI drive). There you will also see what disc types it supports.

If it do still not work, try upgrading Nero.
