Please Help: problem burning cd's/dvd's

I have recently purchased a new computer, an HP with intel pentium dual core and I am using Vista premium.
the problem i have is that I cannot get my cd/dvd writer to burn cd's or dvd's. well my brother actually managed to burn music via i.tunes. It won't burn music using windows media player and I can't burn pictures using any programs I have got including windows photo gallery or kodak easy share. My cd/dvd writer is: ATAPI DVD A DH16A6L - C ATA
I have tried TDK dvds, Memorex and Asda cds. I had no problems with my previous computer, just put the disc in and pressed burn and it worked every time.
I do hope someone can help me with this

Hewlett-Packard Computers come with a Warranty.

If you have recently purchased a Hewlett-Packard Computer and “cannot get my cd/dvd writer to burn cd's or dvd's” suggest contacting Hewlett-Packard Customer Support and have them correct your problem.

Also it should be noted that in many instances “TDK dvds, Memorex and Asda cds” are problematic Media. To obtain quality error free results suggest using known proven high quality error free Media such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim Media which has an excellent proven track record of consistently producing quality error free results.
