G'day I've been strugling for a few days (a week now?) trying to get my burner(s) to work in an external USB2 case. Here is what I have, 5.25" USB2 case (Welland) Sony DWU-18A@SOHW-832S NEC ND-3500A Shuttle SN41 XPC with Windows XP SP1 & Nero 6.6 Generic Celeron 2.2GHz SIS chipset w/ Win XP SP1 & Nero 6.3.1.25 DVD Decrypter on both systems The burner has been tested before and after trying it in the extneral case, and works fine. But when I try to use it in the external case, it always fails shortly after it starts but wont finish "flushing"(?) the cahce for some time. when the disk is ejected the image on the dye looks like its been burnt about 1/3 way through the disk. I just tried to burn a disk and noticed a error message in nero saying "Reset occurred" during the LEAD-IN so basically as soon as it starts. I am hoping someone can shed some light as to what is happening and point me in the right direction to find a solution. cheers.

Yes, I am getting the error on both drives. After speaking to a few support people, someone actually said they've had a few problems (inconsistant) with DVD Burners and the External Enclosure (welland.com.tw). I have emaild welland on friday and have not heard back yet. How much power (W) does burners usually need? Would it be an issue with the amout of power supplied?

Yup, it is USB2 on both PCs. Using the nForce 2 and SIS chipsets. Update on the situation, I've contacted the manufacturer and they said they will get a NEC ND-3500 to try in their case. It was suggested to me that it may be a firmware issue. And when I asked if it was possible to update the firmware because of my troubles with my ND-3500 drive. They said they will investigate. Fingers crossed, because I kinda like this case, its got an integrated powersupply so I don't need an extra adapter. Also, I've picked up a *CHEAP* 5.25" USB2 case. Plugged both Sony and NEC burner into the case and it works fine. No Problems and worked first go! Unfortunately the cheaper case doesnt have a fan in it. Its got the bare minimum material, hence *CHEAP*. Does anyone else has a 5.25" case without a fan that they are using with their burner? I wonder what the implications of this is.
