Pioneer 105 DVD-RW media 2x media only writing at 1x

Just bought a 5 pack of Verbatim DVD-RW dvds, I have a Pioneer 105, and just install the latest firmware 1.33 region free.

The drive only sees it as 1x media.

What 2x media is there out for the Pienoor 105 that writes at 2x ?

Are you sure they are DVD-RW and not DVD-R? Unless you paid something like US$10 per disc, they are most likely rated for 1x DVD-RW speed, or about 1.38MB/s.

There are very few 2x DVD-RW media and they are expensive.

I haven't heard of much complaint on faulty DVD-RW/+RW media. I used some DVD-RW 1x and DVD+RW 2.4x.

A properly working Pioneer DVR-105 should be able to write to Verbatim 2x DVD-RW media at 2x.

Since 2x DVD-RW media are more expensive than 2.4x DVD+RW media, I use DVD+RW mainly.
