CD and DVD Writers Discuss, PC DVD player will not recognise disc at Computer Hardware forum; I have a LG dvd-writer in my PC. Never been any trouble before, but it refuses to recognise one particular dvd which I am trying to back-up. This is not a Region-code problem. The dvd-writer just does not 'see' this particular disc. I have already tried CD-Roller and ISO buster.

It's called 'Die Screaming Marianne'
Region 1 USA (although I believe this is irrelevant)

Maybe run AnyDVD in the background in case it's a copy protection issue? I'm assuming your LG drive is set to Region 1 in Device Manager

Answered my own question....
Bought another drive, and this one recognises the disc.
The first drive seems to be 'picky'.
Funny thing is though, both drives are made by LG, manufactured approx. the same time.
The drive I've just bought is badged 'HP' however !!!!!
