Panasonic/Matsushita has been the largest maker of notebook ODDs. They probably have different thoughts about product quality. My only complaint about Panasonic/Matsushita notebook DVD writers is that they are so rare and expensive in South Korea. Typical 8x Panasonic slimsize "Multi" drives cost around US$100 though that UJ-846 costs nearly 2x as much. For US$100, only combo (CD-R and DVD-ROM) drives are available here.

Any idea where to buy this or UJ-845 in Europe, or on webshops?
Am eager to change my Matshita dvd/cdrw drive to some dual dvdrw of same maker e.g. Panasonic.

I'd recommend a slimtype RW burner from NEC or Pioneer instead.
