Have you updated to the latest version of Nero 5 (www.nero.com)?

Maybe the Nero that came with your drive wasn't the one that was supposed to come with your drive......

We ship our drives with Nero versions that are modified and can only recognize the drive type that it came with.

If for some reason the dealer has mixed up different Nero versions from one box to another (for example from a Combo drive), you might end up with the wrong Nero version.

In any case, make sure to update to the latest version of both the BCE 5224IM's firmware, and the latest Nero version you can find.

Otherwise, check with your dealer if he can explain why you can't get it to work. I presume you just bought the drive......

    What is firmware:
According to http://www.webopaedia.com/TERM/f/firmware.html, firmware is software (programs or data) that has been written onto read-only memory (ROM). Firmware is a combination of software and hardware. ROMs, PROMs and EPROMs that have data or programs recorded on them are firmware.

Simply put, for your DRW1004 the firmware contains information that enables you to use certain media. The firmwares for this drive is regularly updated to support new media.

You can find the latest DRW1004 firmware on the BTC website at the following page:
    http://www.btceurope.nl/english/3-1-...d_dvd_dual.htm

The firmware update program can be executed in Windows. It's a straightforward program that transfers data from your PCs memory to your drive's onboard Flash ROM chip.

As for the compatibility of your drive with certain media, please find the BTC Media Support List on the following page:
    http://www.btceurope.nl/english/3-2-1MediaSupport.htm
