KHypermedia KDVRW8X troubleshooting, since KHypermedia tech support won't reply

I am wondering if you can help me correct the burning
problems I have with the KDVRW8X burner that is made in China. I tried to
contact you through the warranty registration login
page and it kept telling me the address was wrong.

My computer is an Intel Celeron 1.1mhz with Windows
2000 as the operating system. The burner is the
internal KDVRW8X which the serial number is A52T
(S.A.T.)and above that is 95-000140-00 and the numbers
below that are 0VN10725000330. I have the burner
installed as the master drive. Nero Express 6 is the
software with all the latest updates for burning and
DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 for the encoding of the dvd's.

When I burn dvd's I can only make successful copies
using the 2.4 speed only. It may take a couple of
times without making any changes in the way I burn the
copies before one is successful. When I try to burn a
movie at 4 or 8x times speed it fails as soon as the
burn process starts and doesn't matter if it is a 8x
disc or not when trying to burn at 4x speed. I have wasted about 60 discs in this process now. DVD
Shrink comes up and says that the burn process has
failed and when it fails varies so much. Some copies
only make it to 1% and others will make it 98% before
failing. About 1 out of every 4 copies is successful.
Sometimes when after encoding a movie and I go to
burn the movie the drive will freeze up, but the light
that shows it's working may still be flashing. The
only way to get it to work again is to restart the
whole computer.

what brands of disc have you tried?

I have used Memorex 4 and 8x discs along with HP 8x discs.
