Not to sound too much like a dummy, but what is "rebadge"? Also, my computer identified the drive as Lite On "1160d"; which is different from the "box" identifying what I had purchased as a HP dvd1160i. Should there be any concerns on my end, is this a "bait and switch", or is there nothing to be concerned about? Thanks and have a wonderful week...

@ 4moondoggie,

Welcome to the Forum.

Hewlett Packard doesn’t manufacture ANY Optical Drives. Hewlett Packard contracts with various Optical Drive Manufacture to manufacture Optical Drives for them and then have the Hewlett Packard stamped on the Optical Drive – this is called ‘re-badging’ the Optical Drive (putting the Hewlett Packard Name on an Optical Drive that was manufactured by a different company).

The reason that your so called Hewlett Packard dvd1160i Optical Drive is identified as a Lite-On 1160d Optical Drive is because Lite-On actually manufactured your Optical Drive and Hewlett Packard ‘ReBadged’ the Optical Drive as their Hewlett Packard dvd1160i Optical Drive.
