in my opinion they're both the same. external drives run off their own power supply. you've posted the same questions over and over....asking which is better....do a search in the forum as GAMEFREEK suggested to you....better yet do a search on google

My Dell 4600 Owner's Manual is rev.A01 January 2004. If yours are the same, then go to page 61 (Removing the computer cover, I assume you can open the cover since I remember you can install memory.) Skip to page 76 (Adding a second CD or DVD Drive) and follow the instructions. You can remove the CDRW or whatever drive on the top panel and replace it with your Plextor burner. Don't follow the instruction #8 to set as "cable select", instead set the Plextor as master. Also consult Plextor manual to double check.

the top drive is a CDROM actually. But if I install plextor interal dvd burner or any internal dvd burner in there, will that dvd burner read CD's? I mean will the dvd burner drive function as a CDROM? thanks
