I have a Dell 8200 and the RW/DVD, a HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4240N, is no longer recognized. The system states that the device is working properly and when I place a CD in the drive it will spin up to speed and then it stops, like it should, but when I go to Explore the drive does not appear as an active device.
I have un-installed the driver and then re-installed it. It did not help. I download the very latest driver and installed it and, again, the drive will not show up in Explore.
I do not know what to do next.
Since the drive will spin up to speed when a CD is inserted, and while in system it states the device is working properly, I can not figure what might be wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
