| Hello, I have just joined and am facing this problem, needs help badly. I have a DVD writer and in device manager it shows " Sony DVD RW AW-G170A". In My Computer explorer window it shows as a DVD-RAM drive. But it cannot detect any CD, DVD of any kind and I cannot write with it with Nero 7. I am giving the details below. Note that it shows the drive as CD-ROM drive here in Nero infotool (shown in bold, red color). I am also attaching the details from Nero infotool at the end of the post. Can anybody help? I need details help as I am a newbie in computer with some user level experience. Urgent help is needed. Thanks in advance. Type : DVD-RAM Recorder". The problems you face are not related to that identification. Is Alcohol or Daemon Tools installed?? You have Roxio products installed, which one(s)? Code: Driver : Imapi Description : IMAPI Kernel Driver Version : 5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) Company : Microsoft Corporation PS. I would remove the drive serial, no need to post it here.

| OK, thanks... 1. No Alcohol or Daemon tools are installed. 2. No Roxio products are installed ( at least I don't see any in "add/remove programs" or anywhere. I don't know what has gone wrong. If it can detect the DVD-ram drive then why can't it write DVD? Should it be recognised as anything else? I tried to use Nero-7. But after I press the "Burn" button, the tray ejects (there is already one blank DVD) and asks for a blank DVD. I inserted another but tha same thing happens. Do u need any other info to find out? Please help!!!!!!!!! |
