Cant burn a double density dvd

Hi:
I am trying to burn a movie to a double density 8.5gig dvd+r hp blank dvd.
I am using Nero Recode 2 and have a writemaster TSSTCorp SH-s162A which I think is Toshiba.
I have no problems creating 4.7gig dvds.
Nero writes for about 5min then erros out with a write error.
I have not saved a log.
I have tried writing at 1x speed but same results.
These are expensive blanks.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try Verbatim double layer media instead.

I agree that Verbatims are the only DL discs to buy, but you could post a Nero log and we could see if there are any other monkeys in the machine.

Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt


Just one log from your DL attempt and don't forget to remove your serial numbers.

There is a firmware update available for your drive, try TS03 from here:
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2227

I wouldn't spend my money on anything but Verbatim DL's.

These errors are due to your drive not being able to handle the blanks. If the firmware doesnt fix the problem then the next best solution would be new discs.
