burning device???

I need advice, I have always burn all my music and dvd downloads with xpcdburner, now for some reason will not let me do it, message says select burning device, and the compatible drive doesn't respond. I have looked for info in the internet but says that i have to install a hardware burning device,. But I never had to do that and always manage to burn ok before.
Thanks

Re: burning device???

I really doubt you ever burnt a DVD with windows XP internal burning engine, as it never could!
You can burn cd with windows IMAPI, but if you ant to burn a DVD you need to install a software. There are a lot of very good and free soft out there.
IMGburn is one of them http://www.imgburn.com/

Re: burning device???

Do you mean CDburnerXP? What operating system do you use? Does the drive play CD's and/or DVD's? Do you know the manufacturer of the burner? Have you made any changes recently, software or hardware?

Re: burning device???

I haven't change anything just the usual, running antivirus, uninstalling programs that I don't need, etc... nothing out of the norm. I can't figure out why I burned no problem before and now will not let me, keeps asking "select burning device". I have tried with IMG burning and the same history. Is there any other burning programs that I could try with? Or maybe I have to end up installing the burning device ???

Thanks

Re: burning device???

@ siren68,

Request posting an ImgBurn Burning Log File.

In Device Manager under ‘DVD/CD-ROM Drives’ are there any device errors?

Regards,

Re: burning device???

First, you should make sure that the DVD-ROM is still work. After that, maybe you can try ImTOO DVD Creator. It is powerful DVD burn software which can convert AVI, MPEG, DivX, MP4 and WMV to DVD movie and burn DVD movie perfectly. Compared with other DVD burn software, ImTOO DVD Creator is faster and easier to create DVD, burn DVD movie and ISO file. And you can download it at http://www.imtoo.com/dvd-creator.html
