They both don't support DVD-RAM. if it has to be a 16x DVD-RW, wait a few weeks for the new LG GSA-4160B (http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/10417), although there is no real improvement in speed compared to the GSA-4120B imo (see for yourself). So if you need a burner now, get the GSA-4120B. The best choice if DVD-RAM is a must.

Wait for GSA-4161B or GSA-4162B if you want 16x DVD+R, 16x DVD-R, and 5x DVD-RAM. Hitachi and LG will probably have drives that can do 16x DVD+R, 16x DVD-R, and 16x DVD-RAM next year if what they said about 16x DVD-RAM were true.

Yeah... Thanks. I still have one question in mind: what are the real advantages of DVD-RAM ? The only thing I know is that it can store still images and videos at the same time and it is mostly used in devices such as digital cameras. Will a DVD-RAM be a valid DVD Video (readable in a DVD player) even if I store a data track w/ my backups and the DVD Video files (the ones in VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders) ?

I beleive that DVD-Ram can be used to make backups of DVD's. The only real advantage that I have heard for DVD-RAM is that it has superior error correction capabilities and for this reason it is often used for data storage.

That's right. DVD-RAM is something between PD/MO and DVD.
