Try turning you read speed down and set Audio Extraction Quality to Best(Slowest) in the Audio Read Setting's.

...and this is based on what evidence? Is there any Red Audio on a PSX disc? Or do you think it has something to do with the different step height of a PSX disc compared to a CD-R?

The only devices which can reliably rip Red Book audio at high speed are Plextors & high-end Yammys since they contain additional circuitry for DAE. All other devices should rip no faster than 8X to satisfy a 'golden-ear'

The main problem with PSX is the FMV which is affected by the poor quality laser in the console as well as the different step height in a CD-R
